We are expecting our second son in [name_u]November[/name_u], and are having a bear of a time coming up with a name. Before we knew his gender, I thought it’d be harder choosing a girl’s name, but this little gent is giving us a run for our money!
It’s important to me that our son have a name that is just as significant to us as his brother’s. Plus, my husband and I both work in education, so we’ve got a lot of associations with names linked to kids we’ve taught–both good and bad.
Here’s our short list:
[name_m]Callan[/name_m]
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u]
[name_u]Carter[/name_u]
Holston
For middle names, I’m leaning toward using both [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] (after my father) and [name_u]Lee[/name_u] (my own mn and that of 4 generations of my relatives), but I might chicken out and just use one. Our last name has the “[name_u]Ryan[/name_u]” sound.
I love [name_u]Carter[/name_u] or [name_m]Callan[/name_m] (I think the nn [name_u]Cal[/name_u] is adorable) and I think it sounds great to use both, especially if they have personal significance to you!
[name_u]Carter[/name_u] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]
[name_m]Callan[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]
Sounds great!
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] is definitely my favorite from your list! I like [name_u]Van[/name_u] as a nickname. [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] is a little long, but not bad. If it were me, I’d just go with [name_u]Lee[/name_u].
[name_m]Callan[/name_m] is my second favorite. The other two aren’t really my style.
My favorite is [name_m]Callan[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] “[name_u]Ryan[/name_u]” followed by [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] & [name_m]Callan[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]. I really like both [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] & [name_m]Callan[/name_m] and the tie breaker would probably be his sibling’s name.
[name_u]Carter[/name_u] I feel neutral about, it feels a little bland to me. Holston is not my style.
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] or [name_m]Callan[/name_m]. Not Holston! I thought like the cow?? when I first read it. (The black and white cows are called Holstein)
Holston is cool, but sounds too much like holster for me. It does remind me of [name_m]Holt[/name_m] ([name_f]Tiffany[/name_f] Theissen named her son this) which is uber handsome.
