Having second thoughts on a name--help!

I’ve posted about this, but we’ve really started loving the name [name]Huxley[/name] with the nickname [name]Huck[/name]. The more I’ve read around the though, it seems like a lot of people have negative reactions to the name and/or think [name]Huck[/name] has too much teasing potential. Also, we just found out that some friends (who we don’t spend time with very much, but who live near us) have a dog named [name]Huck[/name]. Also, most of our family members have really traditional, sort of boring names.

There is possibly going to be an induction tomorrow, so we need to decide soon! Like I said, we really like the name and are more excited about it than we have been about any other, but now we’re nervous about how the name would be perceived, which is important to us. What is your advice??

Personally, I like it! Especially [name]Huxley[/name]. I think bottom line it all comes down to you being excited about it and you liking it.
His nn could always be Hux.

Since you didn’t include your back-ups in this post I think this name is really the one for you. You said you’re both excited about it. That’s great!

If your family is conservative there’s the chance that some family member might say something rude or give a look. My daughter is named [name]Leonie[/name] and I got the side-eye reaction from my great aunt & my post partum mind was kind of obsessed with whether I picked the right name & people liked it…I have people pleasing problems!

I think you should choose your name with confidence & don’t get too hung up on nicknames & the dog of your acquaintance.

I think go for it! [name]Huxley[/name] is a get name  I think the Hux could also be a great nickname if you don’t want to use [name]Huck[/name]. [name]Don[/name]'t worry what everyone else thinks, it’s a great name and if you love it use it!!!

And as far as the dog goes, if the dogs name is [name]Huck[/name] not [name]Huxley[/name] you aren’t giving your baby the same name as the dog.

I actually view it as pretty trendy, alongisde [name]Henley[/name], [name]Tenley[/name] and various others. It’s not bad but not really my style at all. I must say that I’d be more intrigued to meet a little [name]Huxley[/name] than [name]Jaden[/name] and [name]Caden[/name]'s.
