Having second thoughts on Charlotte

I’m starting to like other names like [name]Georgia[/name], [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] that aren’t as popular as [name]Charlotte[/name]…what do you think? We were going to go with [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Noelle[/name] but I feel like [name]Charlotte[/name] is getting soo popular…

I love [name]Georgia[/name]! [name]Ruby[/name] is cute and [name]Violet[/name] ( though popular) is ok though nms. [name]Charlotte[/name] is very lovely, though I think it has staying power because it is a classic.

I wouldn’t let popularity bother you. It’s a classic name that has been and will be around for many years, and it’s gorgeous to boot. Plus if you don’t want her to be [name]Charlotte[/name] X she can be [name]Lottie[/name] or [name]Char[/name]/[name]Charlie[/name], or whatever nn you want as it’s so versatlile. If you love it, use it.

I love the name [name]Charlotte[/name], but yes, it is getting very popular. If that is a concern for you, I would go with one of the other beautiful names you have mentioned. Since I still love [name]Charlotte[/name], I would use it as a middle name. [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]… [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]… (it wouldn’t work with [name]Violet[/name]. You could use [name]Violet[/name] [name]Georgia[/name], or [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Violet[/name], though).

I love [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Noelle[/name] - I actually would consider it for a daughter for myself (once we are ready to consider children and names) - though I understand not loving that it was so popular last year.
I like [name]Violet[/name] [name]Noelle[/name], [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Noelle[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] as alternatives.

If you love a name, I don’t think you should let that bother you. [name]Charlotte[/name] is classic and beautiful! [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] would be gorgeous though.

I love [name]Georgia[/name] and [name]Violet[/name]! I think they’d both be lovely with [name]Noelle[/name] in the middle. [name]Charlotte[/name] is a beautiful name but I agree it is very popular at the moment.

If you are going to choose based on popularity, I would say go with Georgia. Charlotte is the most popular of all the choices, but if you are afraid of her being one of many others with the same name, I would stay away from Violet and Ruby. Ruby is becoming a very popular name and it is not as classic as Charlotte (imo). I think Ruby will get more popular and maybe hit the top 50 soon. Violet is also becoming more popular, and it will probably be in the top 100 next year.

All of the names are pretty so you can’t go wrong with any of them. Charlotte is a great name, and it isn’t the worst thing if she meets another with her name. All of the names are lovely. Goodluck!

All of your choices are lovely. I feel your pain, as [name]Charlotte[/name] is on our short list as well. We have about 5 we are seriously considering, and [name]Charlotte[/name] is the only one in the top 100. Popularity is something that typically bothers me when naming my own child. However, [name]Charlotte[/name] is so beautiful, and so darling on a girl yet mature and grown-up enough for a woman that I love it in spite of its popularity. If you love it, go for it.

I know intellectually that [name]Charlotte[/name] is popular, but I know an awful lot of kids, and I’ve only met one [name]Charlotte[/name].

I love [name]Charlotte[/name]. Absolutely love it. And if [name]Charlotte[/name] was the name for me, in the end, I would use it, even if it was a top 10 name. I think of it as a classic name currently experiencing a surge of popularity, rather than a trendy name (like [name]Nevaeh[/name], that came out of nowhere and has no history). I think [name]Charlie[/name], [name]Char[/name], [name]Lottie[/name], and [name]Lola[/name] give [name]Charlotte[/name] enough variety that she would never be [name]Charlotte[/name] [last initial] if there was another [name]Charlotte[/name] in her class (although when you do the math, it averages out that there should only really ever be 1 [name]Sophia[/name] or [name]Isabella[/name] or [name]Jacob[/name] or [name]Ethan[/name] or [name]Michael[/name] or [name]Mason[/name] in each class, so I wouldn’t be too worried about [name]Charlotte[/name]), and honestly, it’s not the worst thing in the world. It was my senior year of high school until there was another [name]Ashley[/name] in one of my classes, and that’s when there was a good percentage more of children who had a top 10 name. It only really bugged me in one semester in college when there were three of us in one class (and at least two of us in a handful of other classes!), but that’s not very likely to happen again, that there are so many of one name in each class.

I do like [name]Violet[/name] (and [name]Violet[/name] [name]Georgia[/name] is gorgeous!), and that would actually be my first choice on your list (just prefer it to [name]Charlotte[/name], personally, but if I had enough girls, I would be tempted to use both [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name]!), but if you really love [name]Charlotte[/name] I would go for it.

I also wanted to suggest [name]Odette[/name]–it’s a rather obscure French name with lovely ballet associations, and it has a lot of the same feel of [name]Charlotte[/name] to me, without the traditional feel and the popularity. I don’t know if you would like it or not, but I figured I’d offer it up. I love it, but really only as a MN.

Good luck!

[name]Don[/name]'t give up on [name]Charlotte[/name]. I would use it if it was in anyway pronounceable in Spanish. I think it is a classic, beautiful name and just has something that the top 10 names don’t have. In 9 years of teaching, I have never taught a [name]Charlotte[/name].

I don’t think you can go wrong with any of those picks. If you’re really concerned about popularity than I would go with the least popular one.
