My hubby has his heart set on a name…and most of me wants to go with it just because I know how much he loves it. We haven’t shared the name with anyone yet just because we don’t want to hear any negative opinions or complaints (from family members and such)… but the name is [name]Willa[/name] [name]Capri[/name].
I am the one who brought up [name]Willa[/name] because [name]William[/name] is my Hubby’s middle name and both of his grandfather’s names. I love it, but am having a hard time committing. I feel like once we made a decision, I felt inclined to back out and start looking for more and more names.
Now I am just simply confused because I love the names [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Honor[/name], [name]Maxine[/name], and [name]Daphne[/name] too (plus many, many more)!!!
I would love for opinions on this name. Also, some advice on committing to a name. Any other mommies have experience with cold feet like this? Would love to hear!
*I know [name]Capri[/name] is a unique choice, but I just love it. It sounds so fresh and fun to me.
[name]Hi[/name]! I am a new mom to be and can totally relate to your naming “cold feet”! I feel like one minute I am sure about a name, the next minute I am totally uncertain!
My personal thought is that [name]Willa[/name] is adorable! Especially considering the ties it has to family…I am sure more experienced Berries will have lots of suggestions, but have you considered looking for a longer name that [name]Willa[/name] might be a nickname for?
[name]Willa[/name] is on our list, to honor a couple of [name]Williams[/name] in our own families!
I really like the combo [name]Willa[/name] [name]Capri[/name]. [name]Willa[/name] is a more traditional-sounding name and [name]Capri[/name] gives it a modern flair. Super cute!
We’re in the same boat, though. We have a few names we like but we just can’t commit. I feel horrible that we’re this far along and she doesn’t have a name, since big brother’s name was chosen before we found out he was a boy!
I love [name]Willa[/name] [name]Capri[/name]! That is a particularly striking combination. I would be tempted to always call her [name]Willa[/name] [name]Capri[/name], though, and not just [name]Willa[/name]. I think [name]Willa[/name] is very cutesy and it works, but I feel like I want to hear something a little bit longer… Have you considered [name]Willow[/name] [name]Capri[/name]? This makes it just a tad longer, and in my opinion, a little more finished when you are saying just the first name. It still gives the option of [name]Willa[/name] as a nn. WDYT?
I like [name]Willa[/name], but [name]Capri[/name] is… odd. no offense. I don’t say it’s ugly, just very unusual.
[name]Willa[/name] [name]Capri[/name] is cool, but someday you’ll must provide a very good reason when your daughter ask you why you name her [name]Capri[/name]. It’s remind me of capricorn, the zodiac with a mountain goat as its symbol.
however, I think the combo itself is cute.
[name]Willa[/name] is not a name that is well heard of in the UK but I understand it is fairly usual in the US. If your husband really really loves it and you also love it then I can’t see the problem. It’s not as if you’re saying he likes it but you’re not keen. I say go with it. As for [name]Capri[/name] - in the UK that’s a type of car but again if you love it then you should go with it.
I know what you mean about not committing. We have a boys name picked and although I do love it I’m not sure it’s perfect and nothing we come up with is. OH can’t come up with a girls name at all so at least you’re most of the way there!
Why not sort of agree on [name]Willa[/name] [name]Capri[/name] but have a back up name and see what she looks like when she arrives?
[name]Hi[/name]! [name]Willa[/name] is a wonderful name, and it’s great you have so much love for this combo.
My one thought is are you likely to try for more children - if you have a boy, would you be interested in naming him [name]William[/name]?
If so, then you might want to wait on [name]Willa[/name], or, put it in the middle (I don’t have any objection to one middle name and one first name overlapping in a sibset, I know some do, but, in any case it’s more doable than [name]Willa[/name] and [name]William[/name]).
Seriously contemplating [name]Willa[/name] ourselves. [name]One[/name] minute I love how it’s sweet, feminine, strong, and literary, the next minute I worry that it sounds incomplete or a lazy attempt at [name]Willow[/name]. My husband’s MN is also [name]William[/name], so I am in a VERY similar situation. I hate that I’m the one that suggested it, and yet I’m the one having second thoughts. I love your pairing with [name]Capri[/name]. It’s perfect!
I had major cold feet two years ago naming my daughter. I knew I wanted to call her [name]Gigi[/name] and was looking for the perfect first name that started with G. My favorite was always [name]Ginger[/name]. Half of the feedback was positive and half was negative. There were so many other “safer” name choices like [name]Georgia[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name]. I am so glad I stuck to my guns because I am still in love with her name. I can’t imagine her with any other name. I can see where you might think [name]Willow[/name] is a bit safer, but I would say if you just can’t shake a name then use it!
By the way, I personally love [name]Willa[/name] so much more than [name]Willow[/name]. And [name]Capri[/name]…I think of the [name]Isle[/name] of [name]Capri[/name] - how glam! You must take her there some day!
