Hayden?

I love the name [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] and was planning on using it, until I realized it may be lumped into the [name_u]Aidan[/name_u], [name_u]Jayden[/name_u], [name_u]Brayden[/name_u], [name_m]Caden[/name_m], etc crowd even though I found the name on a SSA list from 1910. I’m also not liking that the name is being increasingly used for girls.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] wondering your thoughts on this. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you know many Haydens?

I associating it with the old show Coach ([name_u]Hayden[/name_u] is the main character’s name), so of the -ayden maelstrom, [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] and original [name_u]Aiden[/name_u] are the only ones I like because they don’t feel invented like the rest.

I’ve never met a [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] in person–but I have met innumberable [name_u]Aiden[/name_u]/[name_u]Ayden[/name_u]/[name_m]Caydan[/name_m]/
[name_u]Kayden[/name_u]/[name_u]Brayden[/name_u]/[name_m]Zaiden[/name_m] and recently a Raydan, so as much as I like [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] and appreciate it as an older name, I feel it will be lumped in with all the -aydens and since people probably don’t know a lot of older Haydens, it may feel unestablished and just another invented name to fit the trend.

[name_m]Hayes[/name_m] might be a nice alternative.

[name_m]Even[/name_m] though [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] does have a longish history, I definitely lump it in with the rest of the -aiden names! It sounds just like all the rest of them, I’m afraid. That alone has caused it to lose any appeal to me. Personally, I know soooooooo many [name_u]Hayden[/name_u]'s, both male and female, that I can’t even give you an accurate number.

[name_m]Hayes[/name_m] is a great suggestion!

Would you consider [name_m]Hadrian[/name_m] as an alternative?

Thanks everyone. That’s what I thought.

I think this name only looks good on girls or gay/emo guys tbh. It doesn’t seem like it fits a manly man. Use it. It’s fine.

I know one [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] and he’s a male. This name has a lot of history, not only as a surname.

I can’t exactly answer the question since my countrh does not use English names. But I think [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] is a trendy and cool choice that is also used for girls.

I work with a wonderful kiddo named [name_u]Hayden[/name_u], but he was definitely born during the -ayden name craze and I associate the name [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] with that.
