Hazel and Coraline

Hubby and I keep discussing girl names and our list is ever evolving. Currently we’re strongly debating [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]. Hubby loves it (and the animated movie of the same name). I’ve always loved the name [name_f]Cora[/name_f], so this is my chance to use it as a nickname  Our daughter’s name is [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. What do you think of [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] and [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]? Middle name recommendations? I’d love to stay true to our vintage style.

I think it’s spectacular! These names as sisters feel slightly witchy (in a very very great way), biting, and woodsy—vintage with a kick! The nickname [name_f]Cora[/name_f] is perfect, too. I think that’s a great way to “tame” the ever-bright [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] as well as just being a beautiful nickname.

I think [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] might be the more cohesive choice with [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] has a special sparky edge that [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] really doesn’t.

I love these two for sisters!! :ballet_shoes::art:

Yes! That’s one of the things I love about Hazel and have found it hard to describe. Someone mentioned on a previous chat that it has a mysterious quality. I’m a fan of spooky movies/period pieces, so having vintage/mysterious/witchy names is very true to my style!

Absolutely  I love that as easily as Hazel could be a sweet, floral, linen name, she could also be a mythic, rogue, and fiery one. These qualities match with Coraline, too!

I’m named Hazel too, so I’m biased… but what a great name it is

A great pair. I’d probably do something earthy like [name_u]Hazel[/name_u]. [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] or [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f].

I agree @Casea33 , an earthy middle name would tie in very nicely with [name_u]Hazel[/name_u]. I just had a thought…Coraline Willow??!

Been considering this the last couple hours. While I think [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] [name_u]Willow[/name_u] is beautiful, I’m thinking it loses the strong classic and vintage feel of [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. Perhaps a different middle name would be more fitting.

[name_u]Hazel[/name_u] & [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] are gorgeous :crystal_ball:

[name_f]Coraline[/name_f] is such a beautiful name she’s earthy, majestic, ethereal and whimsical. [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] has this really lovely witchy vibe which works wonderfully with [name_u]Hazel[/name_u]. They are such lovely whimsical earthy pairing really wonderful.
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] adds a light energy to the name.

[name_u]Hazel[/name_u] & [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] “Cora” are lovely together! A little whimsical, a little adventurous, and yet still full of cozy vintage charm. For a middle name maybe something like:

[name_f]Coraline[/name_f] [name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Coraline[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Coraline[/name_f] [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]

Oh how wonderful! This sibset combo is to die for!

Coraline is such a spunky, feminine, beautiful name. Great alternative to Caroline (though Coraline is much more fresh and, in my opinion, prettier). I think Coraline and Hazel sound perfect together. They both have that spunky spark to them while also feeling quite feminine and delicate. Both names are unique but not unheard of…I think it’s perfect!

Middle name suggestions:
Coraline Margot
Coraline Frances
Coraline Annelise
Coraline Mable
Coraline Louise
