[name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] <3
Congrats on your awaited baby! I’m really happy for you!
[name_m]You[/name_m] have great choices. I like [name_f]Margot[/name_f], then [name_f]Florence[/name_f], then [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. But you can’t pick wrong theyre all lovely and match the vibe!
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] is just unforgettable to me. I love it!
[name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Shifra[/name_f] is gorgeous.
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Shoshana[/name_f] is my top pick for [name_f]Olive[/name_f] flow.
I adore [name_f]Olive[/name_f], and she makes a wonderful sister to [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. [name_f]Olive[/name_f] is a vintage classic, just like [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f]. I find her sophisticated and elegant.
I also like [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f] a lot but [name_f]Olive[/name_f] feels less heavy than [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and less popular than [name_f]Florence[/name_f] (it’s getting so much use in [name_f]England[/name_f] & Wales). [name_f]Olive[/name_f] sounds great with your middle name options.
Another vote for Olive! I think she’s perfect with Hazel. I wouldn’t worry about the connection to olives at all. Most people recognize Olive as a name the way they do other nature names, and even if you don’t personally care for olives there’s no inherent negative connotation.
All 3 are equally wonderful.
I think [name_f]Margot[/name_f] elevates [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] in the same way you say [name_f]Florence[/name_f] does. It’s the chicest of the 3 imo. I don’t think it will rise to the same heights as [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] in popularity, but you never know. I think it’s much nicer with [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] than [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f].
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] may be a little on the nose but it works if you love it. [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] being the most popular name for a decade does mean she could be one of many Ollie’s or Livs.
[name_f]Florence[/name_f] is outrageously popular where I am (so is [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] for that matter) but I don’t know any who go by [name_f]Flo[/name_f] or [name_f]Flora[/name_f]. I do know a family with a [name_f]Florence[/name_f] and [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] that I’ve always been envious of (I wanted to call my second [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], and my first is Flora).
All things considered, I think [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is my favourite of the three for you.
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Olive[/name_f] are my favourite - I am with you on the lovely green girls connection. And honestly, at least in this post it sounds like the one you’re the most excited about!
Oh my goodness, this is a tricky one!
I love [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and have such a soft spot for the name, I especially love it with the middle Shoshana…Olive [name_f]Shoshana[/name_f] sounds so gorgeous to my ear! I like the gentle theme of two colours or two kind of botanical names with the sibset of [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Olive[/name_f].
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] is so pretty and I do think it suits [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] in a lot of ways but it’s not my favourite together compared to others on the list. Although, [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] has such a cool sound to it!
[name_f]Florence[/name_f] is just one of those names that sounds so melodic to my ear and goes so well with [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. I think it’s a really soft and feminine choice but [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] feel strong and feminine to me.
Ultimately, I do not think you could go wrong with any of these names but my vote would be for [name_f]Olive[/name_f] (especially [name_f]Olive[/name_f] Shoshana!).
Best of luck! ![]()
- Margot
- Florence
- Olive
Shoshanna, Shifra, Ezra
Older sister Hazel Esther.
You could let Hazel be the tie-breaker once you determine a top two. (That’s what my parents did, and I have to agree with my older sister’s taste.
Hilariously enough, my sister is also 7 years older than me.)
My personal opinion:
1. Margot (tryspelling it Margo and maggot disappears?)
2. Florence
3. Olivia
Middle name favorites:
- Shifra
- Ezra
- Shoshanna
That being said, reasons:
Margot - honestly just an adorable name that works well with Hazel. Personally like it. Margo from Dispicable Me was a good character as well I thought. Probably going to get a bit more popular then hold steady before dropping back down to recognizable but not multiple Margot on the same street.
Florence - pretty. Agree with the others on this one.
Olive - I personally don’t like this one as my sister is an Olivia and she did get teased with the whole Olive thing and “tanning Olive.” That being said, that may be just a where I grew up thing as I haven’t heard anyone else having a name bullying problem from Olive. Olive is growing in popularity and does have great symbolism. My neighbor’s dog is Olive as well. Totally agree that Olive Shoshanna has a lovely flow though.
Middle name wise I love your choices!! I’m personally a big fan of Shifra as it tells a similar story to Esther: both historical women were faced with a genocide and stood up for their people.
Have never heard Ezra on a girl, but it feels daring and I like it!
I do agree with the commenter who brought up that the name should be chosen as it’s own and because you like it and it tells the story you want to tell, and not just because it goes with her sister’s name.
Margot Shifra, Margo Ezra, and Florence Shifra.
All of your Middle names are so pretty!
Hazel has a beautiful name! I’m sure that whatever name you ultimately choose for this baby will be lovely too!!
