I assume you mean ‘old-ladyish’. I really love [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], and I don’t think it’s old-ladyish at all. I think the book The Fault in Our Stars helps a bit with that (16(?)-year-old protagonist named [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]). I think it’s gorgeous, with beautiful imagery (I think of autumn). Best of luck!

No, not at all. While I myself have only ever known older women with the name [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], I can certainly see it working on a child or young person.
Actually, is [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] not the name of [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_m]Roberts[/name_m]’ little girl…yes, yes it is. Well that little one certainly pulls the name off well, so why not yours?

Nope not old ladyish at all. On the contrary it’s making a comeback and considered a hipster name.

Thanks for tellind me your opninions :slight_smile:

@jem : Yep , i mean old-ladyish . Iam misspelled words all the time :smiley: I didnt know that this book’s character was named [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] . Thanks for the information :slight_smile:
@sunniva : Thanks . I had forgot that [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]'s girl is named [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] .

Any other opinions ?

@isabellemarie : Thanks :slight_smile: I didnt know it is consider a hipster name .Interesting information .

I also agree it’s not “old-ladyish” at all. It’s very retro-chic, in my opinion. “Hipster” was also a good description. I absolutely love the name [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. It’s spunky yet sweet. My former neighbor has a girl who is about 12 named [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. She is beautiful with long brown hair, bright blue eyes and is a combination of tomboy and girly girl. She is also a sweetheart and was the “big sister” of all the little kids in the neighborhood.

Well, it is old ladyish because it was very popular a century ago. But there are many names from then that are still being used or are gaining popularity. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is one of those. I am not fond of the name and if I were to choose a color baby name, I am liking the name [name_f]Violet[/name_f] more than hazel. A child can pull off either of the names though.

While there are plenty of old ladies who answer to the name, I find it spunky and energetic. Obviously, lots of other Americans do too, based on it’s massive leaps in popularity since [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_m]Roberts[/name_m] used it. I’d probably avoid it if I lived in a particularly hip neighborhood, if you don’t want your kid to be one of several she knows.

It’s a hipster favorite in the US. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I’ve never met a [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], it doesn’t strike me as geriatric. I suspect the upcoming film adaptation of The Fault in Our Stars will help cement it as a “young” name.

I don’t think it’s old-ladyish. The only [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] I know is in her 40’s. ([name_f]One[/name_f] of my mom’s friends.) I really can see it working on any age.

I’ve only met one lady named [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] in my life and she was older, but she was the most lovely kind hearted person I’ve met so I only have positive connotations! The Fault in our Stars book has certainly helped people see it as a younger name, I just hope it doesn’t become too popular after the movie adaption comes out because this name is fast growing on me, love it!

I have known a few [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]'s and they have all been animals. I just don’t se the appeal of [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] on a little girl and I love vintage names.

The only Hazels I’ve met were at least 70. I can’t see the name on anyone under the age of at least 60, and, as boyandgirl said before, I just don’t see the appeal of it.

For me, yes it is too old-ladyish.

Thanks all of you for commenting & voting :slight_smile:

@sllah : thanks. This girl sounds great and I totally think her name suit her :slight_smile:

@southern.maple : thanks :slight_smile: I plan to watch that movie when it comes out so I can have an opinion on the character that it’s be named [name_f]Hazel[/name_f].

Thanks all of you :slight_smile:

@babyninja143 : thanks :slight_smile:
@jesabel : thanks :slight_smile: I actually hope that the name will become more popular after the movie so some people wouldn’t think it’s old ladyish :slight_smile:
@boyandgirl : thanks :slight_smile: I didnt know [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] was a pet’s name. I dont like that information about the name.
@lilauburn13 : thanks :slight_smile: I can definitely understand what you say. For example I have meet some 70 yrs old womens named [name_f]Pelagia[/name_f] and I can’t possibly think of that namr for any young girl.
@erin91 : thanks :slight_smile:

Well [name_u]Jayden[/name_u] etc. will become a grandfather name soon so nah I wouldn’t judge on ‘oldness’.

Thanks @whirligig :slight_smile: I understand what you mean.

I used to think so but it is one of those names that has grown on me.
