I love [name]Aviva[/name], [name]Ayelet[/name], [name]Adara[/name], [name]Noam[/name], [name]Lev[/name], and [name]Zev[/name]! [name]Ayelet[/name] and [name]Noam[/name] are actually my favorite Hebrew names… there’s just something about them. As for the "H"s, I’m not sure. The "H"s make them feel more authentic to me, for some reason, but [name]Atara[/name] looks cleaner-cut than [name]Atarah[/name] does. So I’m torn.
I absolutely love [name]Livana[/name], too, which is Hebrew, and I came across Eliava and [name]Chava[/name] which are also Hebrew, I believe. I really like [name]Shimon[/name]/[name]Simon[/name], too, but I’ve heard others (non-Jewish) who say [name]Shimon[/name] has too much teasing potential… but I still really like it. I really love the idea of [name]Boaz[/name] nn [name]Bo[/name], too, and I always loved the story of [name]Boaz[/name] and [name]Ruth[/name].
My favorite Biblical/Hebrew name is [name]Caleb[/name]… I’ve seen several spellings for the original Hebrew name, but I believe @miloowen’s son’s Hebrew name is Kalev, so I’m guessing she would know for sure? I think Kalev is really appealing, too.
A few other ideas (not sure if they’re the traditional Hebrew names or more Anglicized in modern translations of the Bible–since I come from a [name]Christian[/name] standpoint, I can’t say for sure, sorry):
[name]Efraim[/name]/[name]Ephraim[/name]
[name]Dov[/name] (have you ever seen the TV show Rookie [name]Blue[/name]? There’s a hilarious [name]Dov[/name] on the show, and on one of the first episodes, one of the girls is like, “Your name is [name]Dove[/name]? Isn’t that kind of wimpy for a copper?” And [name]Dov[/name]'s like, “It means “bear”. It’s a very, very manly Hebrew name!” That always stuck with me, haha, and I always liked it. Maybe because of the show, maybe not. I think it’d be a cool MN as a nod to your heritage, though!)
[name]Ezra[/name]
[name]Gavriel[/name]/[name]Gabriel[/name]
[name]Idan[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name]/[name]Yitzhak[/name]
[name]Yosef[/name]/[name]Joseph[/name]
[name]Yonah[/name]
[name]Josiah[/name]
Lior
[name]Ari[/name]/[name]Ariel[/name]
[name]Noach[/name]/[name]Noah[/name]
[name]Ori[/name]
[name]Raphael[/name]
Raviv
[name]Reuben[/name]/[name]Reuven[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name]/[name]Shmuel[/name]
Yaacov/Ya’akov/[name]Yakov[/name] (I’ve seen it spelled several ways… but I’ve always had a huge crush on the Hebrew form of [name]Jacob[/name]! I love it.)
girls:
[name]Adina[/name]
[name]Ariela[/name]/[name]Ariella[/name]
[name]Dinah[/name]
Dafna (I’m guessing this is a Hebrew form of [name]Daphne[/name]? It’s listed meaning was “laurel”, just like [name]Daphne[/name]'s is. I found it on a website that listed it as a modern Hebrew name…)
[name]Elisheva[/name]
[name]Eliana[/name]
[name]Hannah[/name]
[name]Miriam[/name]
[name]Maya[/name]
[name]Noa[/name]
[name]Rachel[/name]
[name]Sarai[/name]
[name]Shoshana[/name]
[name]Tzipora[/name] (I think the more Anglicized [name]Zipporah[/name] is pretty, too)
And there’s the well-known [name]Ziva[/name], thanks to NCIS, too. I love her sister’s name ([name]Talia[/name], nn [name]Tali[/name]), and her half-brother’s, [name]Ari[/name]–much more than [name]Ziva[/name] itself, which feels a bit overglorified to me. It is a nice name, though.
Good luck!
