I don’t know why but I’m finding that I love the name [name_m]Hector[/name_m]. Is it a reasonable name for an actual baby, or should I keep it for a pet’s name? Is it too old, or ready to come back in fashion? I’d love any opinions, negative & positive or in the middle!
[name_m]Hector[/name_m] is a bit harsh for me tbh and it reminds me of the [name_m]History[/name_m] Boys character but it isn’t a bad name and I think it could work

I don’t think there is anything wrong with the name. It’s not exactly my style and I’m not sure if it’s coming back quite yet, but if I met a little boy named [name_m]Hector[/name_m] my impression would be rather favorable! I’d probably be kind of surprised at first to hear it on a little boy, but I can definitely see how it could work on a kid! The only thing in my opinion that you might want to consider is the intuitive nickname “Hec / Heck”. I’m not sure if that would bother you or not.
I really like [name_m]Hector[/name_m], but would also be a bit unsure about using it myself. For what it’s worth, I went to high school with a [name_m]Hector[/name_m], and his name never struck anyone as weird or out of style, and I don’t think he had any trouble with Hec/Heck - he’s always been known by his full name. I went to a school with a very large Latino population, though, so that could be why it didn’t stand out so much.
Thank you all for your comments! I actually had no idea this name was popular for Spanish speakers. I don’t love Heck but someone suggested [name_m]Huck[/name_m] or [name_m]Tor[/name_m] which are growing on me!
It has a harsh vibe to it and there are so many names with a more pleasant sound out there, [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. Sorry, it isn’t terrible but I don’t think it is a name that most young boys wish they had.
I really like it. It’s not unheard of for little boys here in [name_m]Britain[/name_m], and I find that it has the same upper-crusty, clunky-cool appeal of popular NB picks like [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], [name_m]Otto[/name_m] and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m].
