I love the name [name]Helen[/name]! Husband isn’t crazy about it, but I think it’s lovely. Vintage, short and sweet.
[name]Helen[/name] is a good solid classic. [name]Both[/name] [name]Helen[/name] and [name]Helene[/name], the french version, are quite common and middle aged where I live. Because of that I actually prefer [name]Helena[/name], which seems fresher and more interesting to me.
It’s a fine, solid name, but one I have difficulty envisioning applying to a young kid. It’s easier to do as a middle name.
Variants like [name]Helena[/name] and [name]Helene[/name] seems much more adaptable to all age groups.
Hmm…
I dislike the name [name]Helen[/name], for me obviously it’s a classic but feels rather dated and even though a feminine classic she doesn’t ooze femininity like [name]Elizabeth[/name] or [name]Charlotte[/name]. She instead feels awkward and sounds rather blunt. I also dislike the variants of [name]Helen[/name] like [name]Helene[/name] etc but despite this I do like [name]Helena[/name].
It’s my lovely sister’s name and she hates it! So I associate [name]Helen[/name] with her.
My sister: blonde, rosy cheeked, hazel eyed girl who’s generally pretty and chubby physique. She could be a plus sized model Personality wise; funny, smart, a know-it-all, smiley and popular.

It’s a very nice name. I wouldn’t use it personally. I don’t really know why. It makes me think of the actress [name]Helen[/name] [name]Hunt[/name] and it suits her well.
Yes. [name]Helen[/name] is powerful, sleek, simple. I do prefer [name]Helena[/name], which has a …windier quality to me.
[name]Helen[/name] has long blonde hair and long limbs. She practices archery, plays chess, excels at math. She’s the essence of clarity.
I didn’t like the name at all - found it boring and dated - but a few months ago I met the most wonderful, intelligent, lovely 8-year-old [name]Helen[/name], and my negative view of the name has changed right over to very positive.
I like [name]Helen[/name]-- it’s a smart, beautiful, elegant, and classic name. [name]Helen[/name] [name]Frances[/name] is a great combination!
My daughter has a [name]Helen[/name] in her preschool class. She is smart, spunky, super cute and incredibly sweet…she gives hugs to all he kids and is very well mannered. I think [name]Helen[/name] is a great name, and I like it even more after seeing it on a nice young girl. The little [name]Helen[/name] I know has light brown hair (pixie cut) and light brown eyes. I can picture all kinds of looks that [name]Helen[/name] would “fit”, though.
I’m laughing out loud just because it reminds me of [name]Helen[/name] from Bridesmaids. But I know two Helens, one in a grade above me, one below me. [name]Both[/name] are actually a lot alike, kind of insecure and superficial and clingy. They hate their names. And there are also no real immediate nicknames for them to change to. So I think [name]Helen[/name] is really extremely dated and kind of in the “so far out it will never be in” category for me. Sorry!
[name]Helene[/name] or [name]Helena[/name] if you go that way
reason: endured the name [name]Helen[/name] for 22 years before changing it. It made me feel frumpy if that makes sense…
