Oh, P.S. Hubby’s mom’s middle name is [name]Elaine[/name], so [name]Helena[/name] honors her. So this combo honors his mom, my mom, and his grandma. Plus some others.

It reminds me of [name]Viola[/name] a little bit, but without the Incredibles association (or the whole rape thing, which has been bothering my husband). I think it’s a nice middle ground between off-beat, classic and ultra feminine. I think it also leaves the door open for almost any name for a potential third child.

I pronounce it Heh-[name]LANE[/name]-ah, or however you’d write that.

I love it! My first thought was [name]Kitty[/name], despite how sweet it is, is slightly nickname-ish, but I think that the lovely [name]Elizabeth[/name] makes up for it. [name]Hattie[/name] could work, but it is a bit of a stretch - nothing that you couldn’t pull of though, with all the '[name]Plum[/name]'s short for [name]Victoria[/name], and the '[name]Birdie[/name]'s short for Bridgetts. I much prefer [name]Hattie[/name] to [name]Laney[/name], although they’re both adorable.

I’m not really one for ‘sibsets’, but I do think that [name]Helena[/name] and [name]Dashiell[/name] are slightly mish-mashed, that is, [name]Helena[/name] being classic and soft whilst [name]Dashiell[/name] is very spunky and cool. I still like them together, and although a bit mish-mash, they sound great as a pair. I also agree that it [i]does[i/]leave room for almost any other name for a possible 3rd child.

I love, love [name]Helena[/name] and I think [name]Hattie[/name] makes a fine nickname (it makes as much sense for [name]Helena[/name] as it does for [name]Harriet[/name] as far as I can tell). I’m not a fan of [name]Laney[/name]. But really, [name]Helena[/name] by itself with no nickname is great.

I think [name]Helena[/name] [name]Kitty[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is too long. Nine syllables before you even get to the surname - quite a mouthful!

[name]Edit[/name]: I saw in your previous post you were considering [name]Kitty[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]. I think [name]Helena[/name] [name]Kitty[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] is shorter, cleaner and less frilly. [name]Ruth[/name] serves to ground the airy [name]Helena[/name] and precious [name]Kitty[/name]. Sounds good to me!

I’m excited about the motly positive response! We decided that if we use this name, her nickname would definitely be [name]Hattie[/name]. And if we decide to have a [name]Hattie[/name], she’ll be [name]Helena[/name] instead of any other H name. We’ve loved [name]Hattie[/name] for a long time so this is a pretty exciing prospect!

I’m not a stickler about sibsets, I just like them to sound like the same people named them all, ya know? I think [name]Dashiell[/name] and [name]Helena[/name] do achieve that. She brings out the sophistication in [name]Dashiell[/name], while he lightens her up a little, I think. And [name]Dash[/name] and [name]Hattie[/name] are so spunky and sweet. I love it!

Plus, like you guys said, there are plenty of nicknames that are a lot bigger stretch than [name]Hattie[/name] for [name]Helena[/name]. I think she would go by [name]Hattie[/name] most of the time anyway, so it’s not like it would be “short for” it, ya know? But I do love [name]Helena[/name] so I would be perfectly happy if she decided to go by that later on (unlike if I named her [name]Harriet[/name]!). And with this combo I would honor three+ people AND get to use one of my favorite nicknames!

I’m not sure I mind [name]Helena[/name] [name]Kitty[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] being so many syllables. It reminds me of a name from the Telegraph announcements, which are like [name]Christmas[/name] to me, lol. [name]Kitty[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] just doesn’t excite me, ya know? I think it doesn’t bother me partly because [name]Helena[/name] is fairly short in letter count, whereas [name]Francesca[/name] [name]Kitty[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] looks unbalanced to me.

I am dead set on using [name]Margo[/name] for a second daughter. Occassional nickname would be [name]Goldie[/name], but not used to the extent [name]Hattie[/name] would be or [name]Dash[/name] is. Mostly just for fun in the family. So, [name]Dashiell[/name], [name]Helena[/name] and [name]Margo[/name]? [name]Dash[/name], [name]Hattie[/name] and [name]Margo[/name]. [name]Dash[/name], [name]Hattie[/name] and [name]Goldie[/name]. I love it, personally, not sure everyone else will though. Like I said, I’m not worried about them all being exactly the same style or anything, just jiving together, if that makes sense.

Thanks for the input, and thanks for all the votes! [name]Helena[/name] is officially a contender!

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Lyndsay[/name], I’m so glad you’re going with the beautiful [name]Helena[/name] nn [name]Hattie[/name] for [name]Dashiell[/name]'s sibling. [name]Dash[/name] and [name]Hattie[/name] are really cute together. I also like [name]Margo[/name] with them too! Names don’t necessarily have to be from the same style family just as long as they gel as a group. [name]Dashiell[/name], [name]Helena[/name] and [name]Margo[/name] certainly do! All the best, [name]Mischa[/name].

Thanks [name]Mischa[/name]! We haven’t committed to it yet (i’m not even pregnant yet, just planning!), but it’s definitely a favorite right now! There are a few that I really love, but currently this is edging them out! A nice balance between [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Francesca[/name], Lulette, [name]Beatrix[/name], [name]Viola[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name], etc. Right?

I’m so glad to hear you think they go well together!

[name]Helena[/name] [name]Kitty[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - sounds like it came straight out of the Telegraph

And [name]Hattie[/name] is adorable!

  That is the highest praise a namer like me could ever hope to recieve!

I love [name]Helena[/name] and [name]Hattie[/name], and think this is a great sibset. The only stumbling block for me is that [name]Helena[/name] [name]Kitty[/name] makes me think of the cartoon character Hello [name]Kitty[/name]. That’s definitely not a negative association, though, so it wouldn’t stop me from using a name I otherwise loved.

[name]Helena[/name] [name]Kitty[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] makes me happy! It’s cute and quirky and refreshing. Perfect.

I love the name [name]Helena[/name] and have considered it myself because my grandmother’s name was [name]Lena[/name] which is a nickname for [name]Helena[/name]. I don’t think [name]Hattie[/name] is too much of a stretch once you put the full name together, but would you consider [name]Kathryn[/name]/[name]Katherine[/name]/[name]Cathryn[/name]/[name]Catherine[/name] instead of [name]Kittie[/name]? [name]Helena[/name] [name]Kathryn[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] just sounds so elegant to me.
