So it’s getting close to crunch time and we still have no name ideas for our 3rd little lady.
I gave hubby a list of 50 names of which he kinda liked 4 which I’ll list below so you can get an idea I think of what he likes. [name_f]My[/name_f] taste is more eclectic at the moment we would just like something we can agree on and we both love… middle name is probably going to be [name_f]Catalina[/name_f] (but we have’t even locked that in) so something that works with that. Out last name is 3 syllables and starts with [name_m]Mac[/name_m]. Other siblings names are Elen@ and Ev@ngeline. Another E name is not essential.
A nickname option is preferred also.
Names that we both kinda like:
[name_f]April[/name_f]
[name_f]Solenne[/name_f]
[name_f]Beth[/name_f] (I only like this as a middle)
[name_f]Arwen[/name_f] (prob the front runner at the mo, but I’m worried about the LotR connection)
If you have any ideas please send them through! Thanks in advance!!!
I like [name_f]Catalina[/name_f] best out of all names mentioned, I know it’s a middle, but I like [name_f]Catalina[/name_f] [name_f]Solenne[/name_f] a ton.
[name_u]Will[/name_u] suggest:
[name_f]Solana[/name_f]
[name_f]Avalon[/name_f]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_u]Ember[/name_u]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Acadia[/name_f]
From your list of options, I really like [name_f]April[/name_f] (and [name_f]Catalina[/name_f] would work so well as a middle with it!)
If I can help sell you on [name_f]April[/name_f] - I think it fits in so nicely with the sisters’ names, following the vowel starting theme. It sounds distinct to Elen@ and Ev@ngeline, but complements them too. [name_f]April[/name_f] fits in with a lot of current trends (month name, nature-y, vowels and L sound), but it’s not trendy and not particularly tied to any time period. It’s a pretty and feminine name, but not frilly, which I think works well with the sisters’ names.
The only downside is no obvious nickname, but you could go with something a bit stretchy like [name_f]Lily[/name_f], Pria, [name_f]Ally[/name_f], [name_u]Arlie[/name_u] …
So [name_f]April[/name_f] [name_f]Catalina[/name_f] MacLastName gets my vote!
Thanks for your thoughts, the main reason I like [name_f]April[/name_f] is because of the nickname [name_f]Rilla[/name_f], I just always pause because I’m not sure I love the Ape sound at the front… but we’ll see!
Since you like [name_f]Arwen[/name_f], have you considered other -wen names like [name_f]Olwen[/name_f], [name_f]Anwen[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], [name_f]Merewen[/name_f], [name_f]Nolwen[/name_f] and [name_f]Rhonwen[/name_f]?
They all are lovely and have solid meanings! I think [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] would be so cute with sisters’ names!
I probably like [name_f]Solenne[/name_f] the best with [name_f]Catalina[/name_f].
A few others:
[name_f]Hannelore[/name_f] nn “Hanna” or “Lore” or “Elle” or “Nell”
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] nn “Anne” or “Anna” or “Lisa” or “Lissy” “Liesl” or even “Essie”
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] nn “Bry” or “Ryn”
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u] nn “Sash” or “Sass”
[name_f]Joelle[/name_f] nn “Jo” or “Jay” or “Elle”
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f] nn “Mari” or “Mar” or “Ettie” or “Ari” or even “RiRi”
[name_f]Georgette[/name_f] nn “Georgie” or “Ettie” or Gig/Gigi"
[name_f]Zosia[/name_f] nn “Zo” or “Zozo” or “Sia”
[name_f]Apolline[/name_f] nn “Linny” or “Olli” or “Polli”
[name_f]Apphia[/name_f] nn “Aphi” or “Phia” or “Pia”
Oh, [name_f]Rilla[/name_f] is a great nickname for [name_f]April[/name_f]! I wouldn’t worry too much about the “ape” sound because I’d imagine most people will just think of the month [name_f]April[/name_f] when they hear the name.
I do love [name_f]Catalina[/name_f] too! It’s such a red, feminine and dramatic name but I’m Australian so I just know she will be [name_f]Cat[/name_f] and I don’t like that one bit… or [name_u]Kitty[/name_u], so I feel the only way to have it is in the middle… plus hubby wonders if it is a little too out there… he’s more conservative in his name style even though he loves this name and has for all 3 girls.
Thanks for your suggestions! [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] is my all time fav name! But i feel like having to [name_f]El[/name_f] begining names would be a little to tricky in one family… I love all welsh names ending in wen! Hubby not so much, so I was surprised he like [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] truthfully and out of the 4 is probably my fav I just worry about the LotR thing… we not huge fans or anything I just like welsh names… even though i know this prob isn’t exactly one…
Out of your four choices, I favour [name_f]Arwen[/name_f]. I think LoTR will be mentioned from time to time, but not like… all the time, not too much. And the character was such a positive association anyway. I wouldn’t worry about it.
[name_f]Arwen[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f] or [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] [name_f]Solenne[/name_f] wound divine.
Maybe [name_f]Beth[/name_f] as a nickname? [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], [name_f]Lilibeth[/name_f], [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f], etc?
I think [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] goes great with your kids but if you don’t like the LotR connection then I would steer clear.
[name_f]April[/name_f] is also really nice.
I love [name_f]Catalina[/name_f] as a middle name, and here are some first name options
[name_f]Ambrosia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Annie[/name_f]
[name_f]Boheme[/name_f]
[name_f]Lidia[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]
[name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] nn [name_f]Mimi[/name_f]
[name_f]Anika[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] nn [name_u]Theo[/name_u]
[name_f]Lilah[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilith[/name_f]
Cisilia nn Cisi
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Briana[/name_f] nn [name_f]Bree[/name_f]
Thanks for your suggestions! I love a lot of those names! I’ll add [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] and [name_f]Boheme[/name_f] to the new list for hubby to look at!
Thanks for your reply! I do love [name_f]Anwen[/name_f], but for some reason Hubby doesn’t… I can’t figure out out a it’s only one letter different but there you go… probably one if the reasons we still have no name!
I’m sure you’ve seen almost everything by now but I’ll make a few more suggestions that remind me of your list and daughters’ names. All the best with your decision.
Yes you’re right it feels like I’ve seen every name, truthfully I love lots of them too is just tricky finding one that we both love…
Thanks for your thoughtful suggestions and you even gave me a few i hadn’t seen!! So that’s exciting as a name nerd!!
Really like both [name_f]April[/name_f] and Beth… I think [name_f]April[/name_f] goes very well with siblings, but tbh now that you’ve mentioned the Ape- sound my brain instantly went to Gorilla when you mentioned nn [name_f]Rilla[/name_f] - and now I can’t get a really strong, intrusive primate association out of my head . I don’t think the ape thing alone would’ve occurred to me or even bothered me if it did, but I feel like with that nickname, that association is emphasised and if I’ve picked up on it other people might. But without the nn I really like [name_f]April[/name_f] and I definitely think a vowel name is the way to go.
Not familiar with [name_f]Solenne[/name_f], it’s pretty but feels a bit nothingy / nondescript to me. [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] fine, I prefer [name_f]Anwen[/name_f] with the cute [name_u]An[/name_u]- beginning (even though I dislike [name_u]Anne[/name_u] on it’s own - go figure).
