I’m 5 days overdue and I just now googled my future baby boy’s name. I thought I had done this months ago! But alas, I had not. So I googled his name and up pop mug shots!! And also a twitter account of an “Avid blogger, philosophical, humanitarian at heart” with the same name. This is his first and middle, so not our last name… but still. Is this a problem?? Mug shots!! I could just cry
I wouldn’t worry too much… It’s almost impossible to name your kids something that has never been used before. I thought we did a great job with unusual names for our first, [name]Ezra[/name] [name]Anson[/name]. When I googled his name, I found lots of other people with that same name! If you love it, I say stick with it
You could add an extra mn to distinguish him from all others. My cousin has a very, very common name and once got arrested in his small town for something another (w/the same name) did. My cousin’s such a sweetheart…pissed me off.
Thanks jamrose33. I am settling down now. I realized that people wouldn’t probably google his first and middle anyway. They would either google his full name or his first and last. I just had a moment of panic
I don’t think there are going to be too many names someone hasn’t misbehaved under. Clearly whoever is in those mugshots is going to be at least a few decades older than your son, and will likely have some other last name. The cause for alarm and room for confusion both seem negligible.
Relax! It’s just your hormones! As much as we’d like to believe that we picked a wonderful name that will make our child stand out and be one-of-a-kind, even the more unusual names are shared by people. It’s just a fact. You chose a name you love, correct? If it’s a more popular name, then I’m sure you went into it knowing that he’s not the only one. If you went with a more unusual name, then I’m sure it will remain more unusual with kids his age, the region you live, his classrooms growing up, etc. The fact that there are other men who have mugshots showing up is irrelevant. He’s YOUR kid. A name does not define him, especially if he shares it with someone else. I know several people who share the same name. Not one of them are anything like the others.
If it makes you feel any better, I googled my name a while back and came to find I share it with a porn star. You’ll be relieved to know that I am NOT a porn star.
Thanks guys! Yeah, I’m thinking being 5 days overdue has made me a little… emotional. I have been questioning our name a little throughout the whole pregnancy. But we haven’t come up with anything that I didn’t have doubts about. I think it’s time to bite the bullet and figure once he is here he will turn into a little [name]Augustus[/name]
unless it’s the same first, middle, and last, there’s nothing to worry about.
sllah~ Thanks for the advice and a good laugh! [name]Love[/name] your porn star story
