HELP: a million ways to get to Mimi

Please help!! I have a very large family and my grandmother used to ask to be called [name]Mimi[/name]. Everyone else just called her grandma but she was always [name]Mimi[/name] to me. I would love to be able to use [name]Mimi[/name] as a nickname for a daughter but I have the problem of loving the nickname but not being sure about a legitimate first name name. What is your favorite way to get to [name]Mimi[/name]? Can Berries please help me think of new and interesting ways to get my [name]Mimi[/name]? It is such a flexable nickname.

So far I have:

[name]Margaret[/name]: [name]Mimi[/name]
[name]Miriam[/name]: [name]Mimi[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name]: [name]Mimi[/name]
[name]Rosemary[/name]: [name]Mimi[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name]: [name]Mimi[/name]
Maryrose: [name]Mimi[/name]

Does one or those appeal to you more than the others? [name]How[/name] would YOU get to [name]Mimi[/name]? I want to find a lot so I can find one the SO loves, too! Thanks!

From your list, my favorites are [name]Margaret[/name] and [name]Miriam[/name] and my favorite way to get [name]Mimi[/name] is [name]Mila[/name]!

That’s my name, so of course I have to post! I’d die to meet a little [name]Mimi[/name]. For me, my real name is [name]Emma[/name], and [name]Mimi[/name] just came from a book I read. That probably wouldn’t help you though. Maybe…

[name]Mimi[/name] can be a nickname for any name starting with M so you have a LOT of options. [name]Magnolia[/name] is my favorite from your list but others I love are:
[name]Mimosa[/name] - but would only use as middle since it’s an alcoholic drink…
[name]Mirabelle[/name]
[name]Minette[/name]
[name]Musette[/name]
[name]Musetta[/name]

[name]Emma[/name] nn [name]Mimi[/name] is really cute! From some of the ones suggested I would consider:
[name]Mila[/name]
[name]Mirabel[/name]/[name]Mirabelle[/name]
[name]Moira[/name]
[name]Naomi[/name]
[name]Mirielle[/name]
[name]Marjorie[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name]
[name]Mayim[/name]
[name]Mia[/name]
[name]Minta[/name]
[name]Minette[/name]

Thanks everybody! [name]Feel[/name] free to suggest more.

I know a [name]Meredith[/name] who goes by [name]Mimi[/name] and I really love both names!

I really like [name]Miriam[/name] NN [name]Mimi[/name]. My great grandmother was [name]Mildred[/name] NN [name]Mimi[/name]. My favorite way though is [name]Philomena[/name]/[name]Philomina[/name] NN Meme/[name]Mimi[/name]

I love [name]Miriam[/name], especially if you want [name]Mimi[/name] to seem a more logical step, but [name]Miranda[/name] is my favourite ‘M’ name.

I have a good story for you, that backs up that any ‘M’ name would work: my mother’s name is [name]Megan[/name], but her nn was [name]Mimi[/name] when she was little. This came from her own attempts at pronouncing [name]Megan[/name] - when kids are learning to talk they often repeat the first sound of longer words eg biscuit becomes ‘bibi’.

When my first daughter was born we struggled a bit with what she would call my mother - she didn’t really like gran, nan etc so we were just calling her by her name, [name]Megan[/name], then when my daughter started to speak she almost immediately called her [name]Mimi[/name] (with no prompting by us) which seemed just perfect and we all wondered why we hadn’t thought of it in the first place!

i knew a naomi that had a cousin that called her mimi when he couldn’t say naomi. it didn’t stick but could have if the parents had wanted it…

These suggestions are all great! I guess because there are so many options to get to [name]Mimi[/name] I should have called this “what are your favorite ‘M’ names?”. I like the idea of using [name]Gemma[/name] or [name]Jemima[/name] for [name]Mimi[/name]. I also like [name]Miranda[/name], [name]Marnie[/name], and [name]Meredith[/name]. Thanks for all your help Berries!! More ways to get to [name]Mimi[/name]! Keep them coming please!!!

I know a girl who is just called [name]Mimi[/name] and that’s her full name, she doesn’t have a more formal name to go by. I also know a Spanish girl called [name]Marisol[/name] who goes by [name]Mimi[/name]

Oh I forgot to mention, fun fact, if you pn [name]Mimi[/name] the correct way in Chinese it means secret. I always thought it could stand alone as a name because of that… Otherwise [name]Mimi[/name] is used by French as a nickname for any m name.

I found [name]Maple[/name], [name]Neoma[/name], [name]Gemini[/name], [name]Martine[/name], [name]Lumina[/name], [name]Jessamina[/name], & [name]Amethyst[/name] on my lists; I think [name]Mimi[/name] could work for any of these, especially if it was just my special pet name. In other words: feel free to suggest your favorite names with an M in them anywhere. [name]Mimi[/name] = secret = ADORABLE! I just don’t think I would ever use [name]Mimi[/name] alone in the front spot because I’m not a huge fan of nickname names for my baby. I have a few I like and I don’t think less of parents that use nickname names (my cousin has sons named [name]Jack[/name] & [name]Ben[/name]) but I’m pretty sure I want to go the formal full name/spunky nickname route. It’s what I grew up with and I’ve had a positive experience. Thanks Berries! I love all the feedback

I don’t know if [name]Mariah[/name] has been mentioned.

Didn’t [name]Mariah[/name] [name]Carey[/name] use [name]Mimi[/name] on one of her albums?

I think almost any M name could be given the nn [name]Mimi[/name].

[name]Mirelle[/name]
[name]Milena[/name]
[name]Mindy[/name]
[name]Mina[/name]
[name]Mira[/name]
[name]Miranda[/name]
[name]Mia[/name]

i have a friends child called [name]Amelia[/name] who we called mimi

I have a great aunt [name]Philomena[/name] nn [name]Mimi[/name]

Something like [name]MagnolIa[/name] [name]Mae[/name] or [name]MadelIne[/name] [name]MarIe[/name] as a means to get to [name]Mimi[/name]?

[name]Mirabelle[/name] with the nickname [name]Mimi[/name] has been on and off my list for awhile. I’ve always had a huge soft spot for [name]Mimi[/name], there is just something so sweet to it, yet it also has a little sass.
