Help adding names to a short boy list

I’m working on my boys list, leading up to finding out the sex of baby #2 on [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f]. I love two of the names on my list, but my husband seems on the fence. I want something we both love. We have to use [name_u]James[/name_u] as the middle name because it’s a family name in each generation. I’m hoping for more ideas so that maybe I can find something else to add to my list!

Our two top contenders are:

[name_m]Julian[/name_m]- I love, but my husband is concerned about the sound of “[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]” together. I’m not too concerned because I know the full name doesn’t get said that often, and I’m just not ready to part with [name_m]Julian[/name_m] over it.

[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] - we both like a lot. But I still lean toward [name_m]Julian[/name_m].

Names that have been on our list but are no longer likely for one reason or another are:

[name_m]Harrison[/name_m] nn “[name_m]Harry[/name_m]”
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] (already taken)
[name_m]Conrad[/name_m]
[name_m]Walter[/name_m]
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] nn [name_m]Eli[/name_m] (too popular)

We like older names, but I’d be open to something that sounds more modern, as long as it would be familiar to everyone. I don’t want anyone to be confused when they see the name, basically. I always liked [name_u]Flynn[/name_u], for example.

Thanks for the help!

I think [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is fine but I prefer [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u].

I love [name_m]Julian[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]. I actually really like [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]; I’ve noticed before that I often like alliterative J names. I’ve heard [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], which I thought had such a cool, almost cowboy vibe. I think [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] sounds handsome, intelligent, and romantic.

[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is all those things too though. If you were open to 2 middles, [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is another thought.

From your sig I also love [name_m]Donovan[/name_m]. [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] sounds great!

Last thought… [name_m]Lucian[/name_m]. Similar to [name_m]Julian[/name_m] in a way, but without the alliteration issue. Whether pronounced loo-see-an or loo-shen, it works with [name_u]James[/name_u].

Good luck!

What about just going with [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] _____ I think that sounds good and spaces out the problems you’re having. That’s my vote.

Wow! looking at your siggy we have a very similar taste in names, i’ll have to think on it a minute …

[name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Adrian[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Lucian[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]

and I really don’t mind alliteration. [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] sounds lovely to me. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_m]Julian[/name_m]!
