Help! Are Owen & Zoey too similar?

Our son is Owen and we are considering names for our daughter on the way. We love “Zoey” but are hung up on the matchy nicknames.

“O” & “Zoey”
“O” & “Zo”
“Owie” & “Zoey”…

Are we over thinking this?

I think they’re ok together

[name_u]Welcome[/name_u] to NB!

It’s easy to get caught up in details like this but I wouldn’t say that because they share vowel sounds they are too similar.

Here are a few names with different vowel sounds:

[name_u]Owen[/name_u] & [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_u]Owen[/name_u] & [name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_u]Owen[/name_u] & Elaine/ [name_f]Elaina[/name_f] “Owen & Elle/Ella”
[name_u]Owen[/name_u] & [name_u]Delaney[/name_u] “O & Della”
[name_u]Owen[/name_u] & [name_f]Maia[/name_f]

Hopefully these help

I don’t think they sound too similar. Actually, [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] is an adorable sibling pair🙂.

I think it’s definitely usable and a lot of people name their children rhyming names on purpose. It would be too close for me- but really just an personal preference as to whether you like that or not.

Thank you! I think I’m mostly stuck on the “Owie” vs “Zoey” but I know [name_u]Owen[/name_u] will eventually grow out of “Owie” as a nickname. He’s only 3.

I think it’s fine! They have a different feel and different enough sound! (My cousins have slightly rhymey nicknames, and it’s been okay)
