Hey-hey. I need help quick.
Our beautiful daughter [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] was born yesterday. We had planned to name her [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]. After the Celtic tree zodiac she was born under ([name_f]Ayla[/name_f] means [name_u]Oak[/name_u]). We think it sounds great together, and even with [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], or with “v” her future nickname. Also has a great pattern with the Ys and same letters…
But… she was born on the summer solstice. So we, for fun, looked up solstice name. [name_f]Anya[/name_f] is a different spelling of ”ine which is the goddess of the summer solstice. Also plays well with [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], sylvie, and V. Also a Y in it, and looks nice as a pair. [name_f]Anya[/name_f] also means queen of the fairies, and our daughter currently has almost pointy ears, though that’ll fade with time i’m Sure.
We’re literally having the name paperwork pushed at us and need a name!
Thoughts?
[name_f]Ayla[/name_f]- like [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] without the K
[name_f]Anya[/name_f]- AWN-ya
Sylivia [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] is lovely- don’t change it.
And congrats !
Aw, [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] is lovely!
Either one is nice, but I do personally prefer [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Anya[/name_f]. Or really [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Aine[/name_f]. [name_f]May[/name_f] as well keep the Gaelic spelling. [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] is pretty, or even [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. You really can’t go wrong w/either. Whichever one you think that she looks more like, go with that!
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Anya[/name_f] is beautiful! I love it. Congratulations!
Both of them are lovely, but [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] is a name you picked and liked for a while. [name_f]Anya[/name_f] is a new idea, and I’d be worried about the charm fading.
You just nailed this for us. Thank you.
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] it is!
I personally prefer [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Anya[/name_f] - although I pronounce [name_f]Anya[/name_f] as “ahn-yuh” rather than “awn-ya”.
[name_f]Ayla[/name_f] seems a bit incomplete in my opinion. Plus I have slightly negative connotations with the name. [name_f]Anya[/name_f] is prettier and sounds lovely with [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f].
Good luck
