HELP! baby almost here, marriage in jeopardy, LOL (round 2)

UPDATE:Hubs listened to all the posts on here, and says he now likes Evangeline, Eva or Annabel. No other suggestions make his cut, and he feels he can rule the rest out. Since his declaration of those 3, we’ve updated the list to the below. He may not be open to suggestions, but I am!

The choices… I think: (I don’t think I can the baby as Annabel. It really isn’t my style)
Layla/Laila June - a last minute addition. Still really liking Lila June, but worried about Lila Riley being too sing songy
Evangeline June
Evangeline Noelle
Eva June
Eva Annalise

I’m very pregnant, very uncomfortable and very stressed that my baby has no name. (being induced 9/1) Thus, my husband disagreeing with everything is not really keeping the harmony in the household. I closed my previous post because it was getting a bit lengthy. To those of you that the below will sound familiar, thank you for contributing. There were so many great suggestions, and it helped to create the new list below.

[name_u]Eden[/name_u] was almost “the name.” And, is still husband’s favorite. However, I couldn’t quite commit and I made the mistake of reaching out to my sister for her opinion. Our rule was, no opinion from people close to us so we don’t’ get our decision influenced. She was hesitant at first, then admitted it wasn’t her favorite. She said it made her think of a stripper. Since then, its allure has faded for me… Does anyone else think [name_u]Eden[/name_u] has a negative connotation like that?

Below, please see some likes of mine, some of his… and some that are common ground… kinda…I will run new suggestions past him, but he has SHOT down alot of ideas.

My List - it would be much longer, but these are the only ones he MIGHT entertain. examples include [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] and [name_f]Aria[/name_f] THESE ARE ALL OFF THE LIST BECAUSE HE WILL NOT COMPROMISE ON THEM
Avaline - he says it makes him think of maybeline
[name_f]Loralei[/name_f] - he hates because he thinks that people will call her laura or lura
Aven - my favorite, husband says it is too masculine

His List - he tends to like short and sweet names, not sure where most of these came from…ALL ARE OFF LIST EXCEPT FOR ANNABEL - i’m liking this spelling because of the Scottish roots, but not sure if I like the way it looks. Also, still trying to like this name
[name_f]Ella[/name_f] - this is out because our good friend has the name
[name_u]Sydney[/name_u] - to me, this shares the long E sound from our last name, plus, i just don’t care for it
[name_u]Teegan[/name_u] - to me, more masucline than Aven by far
[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] - don’t really think this goes with her big brother’s name

Some possible common ground - I THINK THAT EVA and EVANGELINE ARE THE ONLY SURVIVORS. I"M NOT WILLING TO GIVE UP LAYLA YET ALTHOUGH I PREFER THE LAILA SPELLING
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] - i feel slightly weird about the origin of the name, but still like the sound, just can’t commit
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] - the front runner because we both don’t hate it
[name_f]Lila[/name_f] - but i think [name_f]Layla[/name_f] sounds better with last name - husband doesn’t like how it makes him think of [name_m]Eric[/name_m] Clapton
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] - worry it is too much of a mouth full

Surname is [name_u]Riley[/name_u], and big brother is [name_u]Noah[/name_u]. Also, would really like to use the middle name [name_u]June[/name_u] -honor name. If not, we will use middle name [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Annaliese[/name_f].

I’m with your sister. I dislike [name_u]Eden[/name_u]. I just keep thinking of [name_u]Eden[/name_u]'s World > shudder.

Your spelling for [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] is very odd to me. The a does make a [name_f]Lora[/name_f]/[name_f]Laura[/name_f] association stronger.
The “i” seems to be the english translation from the original [name_m]German[/name_m] Loreley (which looks trendy to me despite it’s historic roots).
I adore this name and think that nn’s [name_f]Lore[/name_f] and [name_f]Leila[/name_f] (Lie-la) would work really well. I’m considering the second should we ever have a little girl as my SO’s aunt’s name is [name_f]Lori[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lore[/name_f].
I also really like [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lore[/name_f] or [name_f]Etta[/name_f]. Maybe that suits you? (It feels a bit awkward vintage but I always think of [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] [name_m]Young[/name_m].)

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Haven[/name_u] nn Aven? Or [name_u]Raven[/name_u]? [name_f]Mave[/name_f] [name_u]JuNe[/name_u] nn Aven? (alright the last one is a bit of a stretch but…)

[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is fabulous! If its even anywhere on the table your little girl will love her name- and it goes with [name_u]Noah[/name_u]!

[name_f]Edith[/name_f] is similar to [name_u]Eden[/name_u]. :). I also like [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]… I think it sounds just fine with [name_u]Noah[/name_u] :). GL

My favorites are [name_f]Eva[/name_f] or [name_f]Lila[/name_f], but [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_u]Riley[/name_u] sounds a bit sing-songey to me. So I pick [name_f]Eva[/name_f].

[name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] ?

Honestly I love [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and think it’s perfect with [name_u]Noah[/name_u]. But I guess if you don’t like it you shouldn’t use it so my next favorite is [name_f]Annabel[/name_f].

[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]

[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] has been a favorite of mine for a long time! Also, if it came down to it, one of my favorite names ever is [name_f]Junia[/name_f], which you could use as a first name instead of [name_u]June[/name_u] as a middle. I adore the ideas of [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] and [name_f]Aria[/name_f]. If you don’t mind spelling changes, [name_f]Arria[/name_f] was a really powerful and inspiration ancient [name_m]Roman[/name_m] woman with a fabulous history behind her- a great namesake!
Also, you could pronounce Avaline like [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-line with a long “i” instead of the “ee” sound. I always assumed it was pronounced with a long “i”, actually. [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] is cute, though for some reason I think [name_f]Anabelle[/name_f] is a better spelling (this may be because I know an [name_f]Anabelle[/name_f] who is one of the coolest people I’ve ever met, so I could be biased).

When I hear [name_u]Eden[/name_u] with [name_u]Noah[/name_u], I immediately think Old Testament (Garden of [name_u]Eden[/name_u]). Whether that’s a good or bad thing I’ll let you decide, but in general I’m not a fan of obvious sets. I suppose there is the earthly pleasures connotation with [name_u]Eden[/name_u], but I certainly don’t think stripper.

I think [name_f]Eva[/name_f] goes best with [name_u]Noah[/name_u] and with your last name, and I really like that name too. I like [name_f]Lila[/name_f], but not with your surname for the same reason a previous poster mentioned - too much long I and L sound. I really like [name_u]Noah[/name_u] and [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] together too though. [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] has never been a favorite of mine, and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] may be a bit much with [name_u]Noah[/name_u], though that wouldn’t stop me from using it i I loved it. I’m sad your husband won’t entertain [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]. Not a fan of [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] or [name_u]Teegan[/name_u] either. So I guess my vote is for [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_u]Riley[/name_u] or [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_u]Riley[/name_u]. For what its worth, my good friend’s daughter is [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] (she often goes by [name_f]Belle[/name_f]) and its crazy adorable.

I like [name_u]Eden[/name_u]… I would go with the name especially if it was originally at the top of the list.

[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is beautiful! It’s really not that much of a mouthful, and you could call her [name_f]Eva[/name_f] : ) And though I think [name_u]Eden[/name_u] is a wonderful name, most people are bound to think precisely the same thing as your sister. Maybe both of you would like [name_f]Eve[/name_f]; it has the charm and quality of [name_f]Eva[/name_f] with that twinge of [name_u]Eden[/name_u] : )

[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] would be my favorite by far (though I prefer the [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] spelling). I think it sounds great with [name_u]Noah[/name_u] and [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is so cute.

I do find [name_u]Eden[/name_u] to be a sort of stripperish name also… Sorry. It comes off as kind of trashy in the same way certain virtue names, a la [name_f]Charity[/name_f] and [name_f]Charisma[/name_f]. Plus, in combination with [name_u]Noah[/name_u] it’s way too over the top religious for my taste.

Also for what it’s worth I know no less than seven Avens under the age of 8 and they’re all males. I find it incredibly masculine in comparison to the rest of your names.

Thanks to all of you for the wonderful feedback. I’m now starting to entertain [name_f]Anabelle[/name_f].

@lonestar, it does help that you know some boys named Aven - perhaps hubs is right on one thing.
@sophluella, he will not even ENTERTAIN the idea of [name_f]Aria[/name_f]. I love it, especially having grown up with a musical background, which is what I connect it too. He on the other hand, just hears a name that sounds foreign to him. I’m not sure why his disdain for [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]. I was shocked I liked it at first, but I have a thing for classic Hollywood and the name embodies that to me. For pronouncing, Avaline, she has a cousin named [name_f]Adalyn[/name_f], and they will frequently be around one another.

To those of you who brought up the [name_u]Noah[/name_u]/[name_u]Eden[/name_u] biblical connection, that is another point my sister made. She said it was too over the top with the two of them together.

[name_f]Lila[/name_f]- I agree it is too sing songy…I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] L names though, always have
[name_u]Haven[/name_u] - husband hates this more than Aven, and he won’t go for the alternatives either
Evangaline- is back on my top list
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] - i REALLY like, he does NOT

I simply adore [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f].

I don’t think it’s too long at all. It lends itself to many different nicknames:

[name_f]Eva[/name_f]/[name_f]Evie[/name_f]
[name_f]Angeline[/name_f]
[name_u]Angel[/name_u]/[name_f]Angela[/name_f]
[name_u]Evan[/name_u] (if she’s more tomboy)
[name_f]Line[/name_f] (leen)/[name_f]Linnie[/name_f]/ [name_f]Lina[/name_f]
[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]
[name_u]Van[/name_u]

It could fit any type of personality. But it’s also stunning in it’s long form.

I like how [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u] are both religious. [name_u]Noah[/name_u] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] seem like too much together.

I am wishing you the best of luck.

I agree with your sister about [name_u]Eden[/name_u]. I like the suggestion of [name_f]Edith[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] fits with with [name_u]Noah[/name_u], though I prefer the [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] spelling. [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is my top pick, goes beautifully with [name_u]Noah[/name_u] and you could use [name_f]Eva[/name_f] as a nn.

If you like Avaline and Aven but hubs isn’t a fan, how about [name_f]Avis[/name_f] or [name_f]Mavis[/name_f]? There is also [name_u]Avery[/name_u], but it’s a bit popular. I will say I know more than one boy named Aven. You could also try [name_f]Stella[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Ella[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], and as far as [name_u]Eden[/name_u] goes, I don’t totally disagree with your sister but I don’t immediately think stripper when I hear it. I prefer [name_f]Eva[/name_f] to [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], but that’s a personal preference. Good luck

[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]. I typically disregard ‘stripper name’ comments because I’ve heard that about everything from [name_u]Skye[/name_u] to [name_f]Amber[/name_f]. All 3 names are fast climbing the charts though so if you were going for something different, you might want to consider other variations. [name_u]Teegan[/name_u] is awful!

[name_f]Edith[/name_f] is a no
mavis, avis - just not my style
avery - husband thinks is too boyish
stella - love it…husband said no

he may like teegan, but im not budging on that one.

I really love the name [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] but it wouldn’t work very well with [name_u]June[/name_u]. There’s too much of the soft G sound.

If [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] can be common ground, there are so many nicknames that can be taken from it so it’s not quite a mouthful. And [name_f]Eva[/name_f], which you said you both don’t totally hate, is a pretty obvious choice as far as nicknames go.

I like [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] best with [name_u]Noah[/name_u] and your surname.
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is lovely, and I think it would be easy to avoid the [name_f]Laura[/name_f] nn.
Other nn options are Lo, [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_f]Lolly[/name_f], [name_f]Leila[/name_f]

I think you can’t go wrong with [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], but they are my girl choices so I’m biased. Nicknames can easily be used for either.

[name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u]
[name_f]Belle[/name_f] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u] - so sweet!
