First baby is due soon and I feel like we’re spinning in circles over our name choice. For a first name, we’ve chosen [name_m]Brooks[/name_m]. Some days I love it and other days, it’s as if it rolls off my tongue in a funny way. But just when I think I’m falling out of love with it, I wake up the next morning loving it again. My husband has never wavered. Anybody have this problem?
The middles we have chosen honor my husband, [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m], and my father, [name_m]Paul[/name_m] [name_m]Scott[/name_m]. I know they honor them both in obvious ways, but we don’t have many offbeat or original names in our immediate family tree, and reaching back a few generations would honor them less, I think.
I feel like [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] [name_m]Anderson[/name_m] has better cadence (and since my name is [name_u]Allison[/name_u] it could also honor me) but is it way too preppy and long? Is [name_m]Anderson[/name_m] and [name_m]Scott[/name_m] too hissy? Our last name is similar to “[name_m]Barker[/name_m],” but with a softer sound than the “k.”
I really like [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] [name_m]Anderson[/name_m] [name_m]Scott[/name_m]! Very nice flow and not overly preppy. I think it has a distinguished, classic vibe without being over the top.
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] “[name_m]Brooks[/name_m] [name_m]Davis[/name_m]” in your signature! It was on our list originally and we would totally use it, but it’s my husband’s brother’s middle. Since he has 2 brothers, it just wouldn’t work…
[name_m]Brooks[/name_m] [name_m]Anderson[/name_m] [name_m]Scott[/name_m] is great! I really love the name [name_m]Brooks[/name_m], but unfortunately my last name starts with “Br”
[name_m]Brooks[/name_m] [name_m]Anderson[/name_m] [name_m]Scott[/name_m] sounds like a law or accounting firm to my ear. That being said the 3 names will rarely be said together and always with obvious regard to your son, so it’s not a deal breaker. Both are wonderful combos and I think [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] is on trend without being trendy if that makes any sense. [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Scott[/name_m] by a hair, but great either way you go!
Thanks!! Does anyone have any good nicknames for [name_m]Brooks[/name_m]? I know it stands alone typically, but just wondering if anyone has heard anything?
If you do [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Scott[/name_m] or [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] [name_m]Anderson[/name_m] [name_m]Scott[/name_m], you could call him [name_m]Bas[/name_m] or Bash based on his initials B.A.S. I think “B” or “[name_u]Bo[/name_u]” could work. Other than that, [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] is kind of hard to nickname I think.
