Our little girl is going to be born sometime in the next hours-weeks as water broke…it’s only 29 wks now so she’s going to be premature so we want a strong name for her cause she’s gonna need to be a fighter. We are stuck between:
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] + [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] ( the [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is non negotiable but I’m open to different first names)
My husband likes that Roses have thorns and are a hardy flower and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is an Irish warrior queen.
She’ll be fair with blond hair and blue eyes as we both were as kids (but not anymore)
I like that [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is easy to pronounce as our family all asked how to pronounce [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] but I like the uniqueness of [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. Anyway thoughts and opinions?
Both a nice choices. The warrior queen is a pretty great image though. I don’t know how else you would pronounce [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. I think it’s a pretty user-friendly name and great combination of feminine and tough.
I prefer [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] - [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is one of my favourites - it has a sort yet tough sound and I like the meaning
I like the sound of [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] better since [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] have the same “ae” sound. I do like the name [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] though. But what about something longer for first name since middle is one-syllable? Like [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], to stay similar to [name_f]Rose[/name_f] (and you could still call her [name_f]Rose[/name_f])?
I’m team [name_f]Rose[/name_f]! Simply beautiful. I love everything about the name, it’s strength, beauty, charm and elegance. It’s a very strong name and I love how you’re choosing a strong name for your little girl. [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] is an adorable nickname too. I love the idea of referring to her as [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
My vote goes to [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. The repeated ‘ay’ sound is there, but I like the strength and meaning behind [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. I’ve known quite a few Roses, but only one [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], so it still fells interesting and a bit magical.
Anyway that [name_f]Jane[/name_f] could be moved to the fn spot? I think it’s a lovely and strong name! [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] or [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] are combos that could work. What about [name_f]Eva[/name_f] as a fn? I really like [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] as a combo.
We like [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] as well…my grandmother was [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] so we like that it has a similar ring to it…I like the longer forms of [name_f]Rose[/name_f] too and I agree it doesn’t “flow” as well as I would like but it’s funny how different thinking about names is when it’s a hypothetical child and then a real child, lol. Some things just stick…we thought about hundreds of names and for some reason just plain [name_f]Rose[/name_f] (not longer forms) and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] just stuck out…it’s like something else is at work here.
I tried talking my husband into [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] (last name starts with a W) We liked [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and considered [name_u]Winter[/name_u]. He refused [name_f]Lily[/name_f] as much as I liked it and my mom thinks [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is a stripper names as much as I like it too.
The nurse in the hospital is adamant she’s a [name_f]Rose[/name_f]…thanks guys this is a huge help and distraction while stuck in the hospital:)
Oh I love both! I think both [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] go well with [name_f]Jane[/name_f] as mn. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] does have more nickname options like [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]. I think when you see her you will know which is her name in your heart. [name_m]Will[/name_m] be thinking of you and your little fighter! ”
They’re both beautiful names! I prefer [name_f]Rose[/name_f] to [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], and I love [name_f]Jane[/name_f] (it’s my middle name too!) I would maybe consider something a bit longer for the first name though, as I find both combo’s slightly abrupt. But really, she won’t say her first name and middle name together very often, so it’s more important to have a name you love than a name with good flow.
[name_f]Edit[/name_f]: [name_m]Just[/name_m] saw your previous reply. I also love [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], and don’t think it’s a stripper name at all.
I think you’ll know her name when you see her I would go with [name_f]Rose[/name_f] “[name_f]Rosie[/name_f]” personally.
I’m more partial to [name_f]Rose[/name_f] - it’s pretty, but strong. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is pretty and strong too, but it is also up there in the charts and if it’s “uniqueness” is what you like about it the most, [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is definitely the better choice.
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f].
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] are both pretty neutral names and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] brings spunk.
Good luck!!
