We will be having our first child, a little girl, in [name]April[/name]. We have been having the hardest time picking a name. I thought we had it narrowed down to [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Ann[/name] or [name]Isla[/name] [name]James[/name] but now my husband is stuck on the nickname [name]Izzie[/name]. I do not want to name her [name]Elizabeth[/name] because that is my name, his grandmothers, his aunts, and his cousin. Any form of [name]Isabelle[/name] is out also. I am not a fan and my sister has loved that name for longer then I can remember and I am sure will have a daughter one day. So I thought maybe we could name her [name]Isla[/name] and call her [name]Izzie[/name]… would that be silly? Any other name suggestions would be great! We love classic but unique names.
Other names we had been considering:
[name]Ava[/name]
[name]Ella[/name] ([name]Elizabeth[/name] but calling her [name]Ella[/name])
[name]Tetty[/name] (same as above)
[name]Eden[/name]
[name]Leighton[/name]
[name]Quinn[/name]
Please suggest anything you think would be beautiful!
Middle names we are trying to keep to a family name. These are the names we have to choose from but are not limiting ourselves to just these.
[name]How[/name] about [name]Isadora[/name]? It’s more unusual than [name]Isabel[/name], solves the rhyming problem with your last name, and also leads you to [name]Izzie[/name].
I think [name]Isla[/name] called [name]Izzie[/name] kind of creates some pronunciation problems with [name]Isla[/name], which is really pronounced eye-la. But if you call her [name]Izzie[/name] people might think you pronounce [name]Isla[/name] iz-la.
[name]Ava[/name] and [name]Ella[/name] are both extremely trendy. [name]Tetty[/name] I think is a playground nightmare. [name]Quinn[/name] I really like.
[name]Isadora[/name] immediately came to mind to me too. It’s associated with [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Duncan[/name], giving it a graceful, avant-garde feel.
[name]Ava[/name]: A classic name, but it’s now quite trendy and not at all unique
[name]Ella[/name] ([name]Elizabeth[/name] but calling her [name]Ella[/name]): Another classic that has become very trendy…
[name]Tetty[/name] (same as above): Too close to “titty,” which will be the root of endless teasing…
[name]Eden[/name]: I do like [name]Eden[/name], and it’s actually my favorite of the names you’ve listed. As you probably know, this is the name of [name]Marcia[/name] [name]Cross[/name]'s twin, so the name may sound trendy.
[name]Leighton[/name]: A masculine name that’s neither classic nor unique…
[name]Quinn[/name]: I do think [name]Quinn[/name] is a great name.
I love the name [name]Isla[/name], and if you’re comfortable using “[name]Izzie[/name]” as her nickname, that’s all that matters. I think it’s pretty safe to say, however, that most people will hear her nickname as assume her name is either [name]Isabell[/name] or [name]Isabella[/name]. That said, if this doesn’t annoy you, go for it!
I totally agree with [name]Pam[/name] about [name]Isadora[/name], and am wondering how you feel about the name?
I absolutely [name]LOVE[/name] the names, [name]Isla[/name], [name]Leighton[/name] and [name]Quinn[/name], they’re gorgeous.
If you used [name]Elizabeth[/name] as a middle name you could still use the nickname [name]Izzie[/name]. That might be stretching it a bit far though.
I think we are going to stick with [name]Isla[/name] or [name]Charlotte[/name]. I think the name is [name]Isadora[/name] is beautiful I just don’t think it fits. Thanks for all the help! I will let you know what she ends up being named This is so much harder then you imagine it! haha
