Help!! Baby name Job

DH and I have about 11 more weeks to name baby #3. DH vetos any name less than 3 syllables but he likes one syllable nicknames. I very much want to name this baby [name_m]Job[/name_m]. I suggest it every pregnancy. DH finally agreed IF it is the short form of a longer name. He said no to [name_m]Jacoby[/name_m], but suggested Jobadiah.

I can’t think of anything else really. Jobadiah has a nice ring to it, like a smoosh of [name_m]Job[/name_m] and [name_m]Obadiah[/name_m], or a twist on Jebidiah. What do you think? Too odd? Great compromise? Is there any name you can think of that could be shortened to [name_m]Job[/name_m]?

I respect the berries’ name expertise, and appreciate your help

Really cute! I think that it’s a very nice name. Go for it!

Thanks!
Any one else have any suggestions or opinions?

I would go for it! I think it is super cute and a great way to use [name_m]Job[/name_m]. I would be prepared to correct people who assume his name is [name_m]Jebediah[/name_m], I have found with names people sometimes hear what they expect to. It wouldn’t bother me though and I think this is a great way for both you and your husband to be happy!

Oh that’s a good thought and very true! Thank you for your input ”

Honestly, I’m not a fan.

While I appreciate the biblical ties, I don’t love the name [name_m]Job[/name_m] by itself. I agree that it should be a nickname for a longer formal name.

Hey, why not!

Jobadiah is a little too much for me. I personally like [name_m]Jacoby[/name_m] with the nickname [name_m]Job[/name_m]. I do agree [name_m]Job[/name_m] is too short on its own though.

[name_m]Jacoby[/name_m] nn [name_m]Job[/name_m]. Jobadiah is also a bit too much. Sounds like (no offense), he could be a cousin to [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Bedelia[/name_f]…

Jobadiah satisfies both of you… if you’re always calling him [name_m]Job[/name_m], not many people will hear the full name. Personally, nms, but it’s not ridiculous.

What about Joban or Jobani (like [name_m]Jovan[/name_m] / [name_m]Giovanni[/name_m])? Too new/modern sounding?

Jobson or Jacobson, nn [name_m]Job[/name_m].

Not a fan really. I like [name_m]Jacoby[/name_m] though, with the nn [name_m]Job[/name_m]. BUT, if you really like it I’d say go for it!

I like the suggestion of Jacobson … sounds better than [name_m]Jacoby[/name_m] imo, and I definitely prefer it to Jobidiah. When I say it out loud, I hear “[name_m]Joe[/name_m] Bidiah” as if it’s two names.

But if you’ll mainly call him [name_m]Job[/name_m], his longer name isn’t as important and is at least a compromise for you. Best of luck!

Not a fan…super religious for my taste. [name_m]Jacoby[/name_m] is more neutral & you could still use “[name_m]Job[/name_m]” as nn.

I know of a man named Joblin. Maybe you could look into this.

One option might be to get to [name_m]Job[/name_m] from combining the first and middles names. Like-

[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Obadiah[/name_m]
[name_m]Joseph[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]
[name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] [name_u]Oberon[/name_u]
