HELP! Baby sister for Henry and Libby

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all,

I am really struggling with names for our 2nd daughter and she’s due in 6 weeks! I don’t know if it’s the hormones or what… I’m just feeling really overwhelmed.

Background: we have two children, Henr.y and Elizab.eth ([name_f]Libby[/name_f]). We tend to gravitate toward older names. I also like some nature/flower names (although my husband seems less enthused).

Here’s our latest shortlist:

  • [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u]

Our last name is monosyllabic and has a hard “r” sound. Kind of similar to [name_u]Storm[/name_u].

Looking for any impressions or suggestions. Thank you in advance!!

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] is GORGEOUS, both on its own and next to the siblings.

My eyes go straight to [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u].

[name_m]Even[/name_m] though I’m usually partial to [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] is absolutely incredible! I love it, so romantic and timeless. It sounds lovely next to [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]/[name_f]Libby[/name_f] too. My vote goes for the [name_f]Alice[/name_f] combo!

I love the sound of [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] but I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] goes best with your family.

I like [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] the best. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is a bit too similar.

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] is wonderful! It’s perfect with the sibling names.

I love love love [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]! So beautiful

I love your list of names so much! Here are a few I came up with:

[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] (similar to [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], but without the first letter “L” like [name_f]Libby[/name_f])
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] is the obvious winner to me! It sounds perfect with the others, and is stunning standing alone.

Pick [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]!

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] feels perfect!

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] also came to mind

If you want both girls to have longer names with nicknames, how about…

[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] ([name_f]Thea[/name_f])
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] ([name_f]Daisy[/name_f])
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] ([name_f]Annie[/name_f])

As you can see in my signature, we chose [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] “[name_f]Nora[/name_f]” as a sister to our [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] “[name_f]Libby[/name_f]”

I love the sound of [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u]! [name_u]James[/name_u] as a girl’s mn is a favorite of mine. I think [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is a close second, but [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in my mind still sounds somewhat dated.

[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is so pretty, and it’s definitely my fave! However, given what you’ve said about your last name, I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] (which is also gorgeous) would work the best since it’s longer and might better balance out a monosyllabic last name.

[name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] is my favorite! My friend has a daughter named [name_f]Thea[/name_f] and they use [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] as a nickname. I think that [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] is unique and will really stand out from all of the more common names. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it!

Thank you all so much for your thoughts!!

I think [name_f]Thea[/name_f] works best with [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_f]Libby[/name_f]!

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] is stunning!
