Lucy is one of those names I’ve never been able to get into… I agree with @tori101 that it sounds a bit too much like “loose” unfortunately Names like Lucy & Daisy sound a bit too sugary & harsh to me.
Whereas Eliza sounds effortlessly strong, spunky, & elegant. However I will say, that no matter how high up these get, they’ll always be classic. Take Charlotte for example.
Jean Louise sounds really nice, but it also reminds me of the phrase “Jeez Louise” lol. I much prefer the lovely Jane!

I read your response aloud to my husband. Thank you for your thoughtful reply and insight. This is what I love about advice from our nameberry forum. This made me feel so much better.
I absolutely love [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is sweet!! I definitely wouldn’t consider either of them “trendy” (although if I had to pick one, [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] seems a bit more trendy than Eliza.) Trendy to me means the name isn’t very wearable on an older person and is only popular for a short period of time, and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] seem almost the opposite! To me, [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is a classic, having almost always been in the top 1000 since the year 1900, but not yet broken the top 100. Eliza’s popularity does seem to be steadily rising, whearas [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] was less popular in 2020 than in 2019. Basically what I’m trying to say here is no matter how popular either of the names get, I think they’re both going to be considered “classic” rather than “trendy,” because of their beauty and timelessness best of luck on choosing a name!
