Help!Boy name rhymes--need advice or assurance!

[name]Hi[/name] all!

so, my husband is really into naming our brand new baby [name]Dashiell[/name] [name]Ellington[/name]. while i love the name, our other boys names are: [name]Cole[/name] [name]Madison[/name] and [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Cash[/name]. Im having some name anxiety over this choice because of the [name]Cash[/name] and [name]Dash[/name] thing… i have another day to actually make the decision final–can i get your advice or assurance on the rhyming issue of boy #2 and boy #3?

The other names we had been wrestling with were A names bc of the C, B, A thing which we thought might be cute. [name]Ellington[/name] was always the middle name. So the A names were: [name]Atticus[/name], [name]Arlo[/name], or [name]Archer[/name]…the second two being names my oldest son suggested which we liked but hadn’t yet completely fallen in love with…the only thing that held us back from [name]Atticus[/name] is it seems to be growing fast in popularity, per our pediatricians…

so much gratitude!!

I think it doesn’t matter too much that they rhyme, [name]Cash[/name] is a middle name after all and unless you’re the type of person to call them by first and middle on a regular basis then not many people will even know it.

The C,B,A thing puts you in a bit of a dilemma if you have a fourth son though, it’ll either lock you into a Z name or have one son out of the link with the others.

I prefer [name]Dashiell[/name] with [name]Cole[/name] and [name]Beckett[/name] to [name]Atticus[/name], if that helps. It seems to fit better stylistically.

Thank you for this reply! We do, however, refer to [name]Beckett[/name] as [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Cash[/name] “sometimes”…and wierdly many of our friends love the name [name]Cash[/name] so much they just call him that… OH! sigh! i think i need to take more time till my mind gets right with all of this…!

thank you again!

[name]Do[/name] you think you and your friends will continue to use the full name “[name]Beckett[/name] [name]Cash[/name]” if you have a son named [name]Dash[/name]? I personally [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Dashiell[/name] and think it fits so well with [name]Cole[/name] and [name]Beckett[/name]. I agree with essjay that stylistically it fits better than [name]Atticus[/name]. But don’t get me wrong, [name]Atticus[/name] is a great name also!

[name]Dashiell[/name] [name]Ellington[/name] is great, I wouldn’t change it! I agree with the previous posters than since [name]Cash[/name] is a middle name it’s fine, and if you go with [name]Dashiell[/name] people will probably not call [name]Beckett[/name] by his middle name anymore. However, [name]Atticus[/name] [name]Ellington[/name] would fit in great as well.

If you will regret loosing a loved name in [name]Dashiell[/name] then keep it even with the rhyming. It is not so bad that it will be confusing or awkward in my opinion, especially since you do not call your other son [name]Cash[/name] most of the time.

I really like [name]Dashiell[/name] [name]Ellington[/name] and I don’t really think it’s really that much of an issue that nn’s might rhyme. But if it bothers you maybe you can find a different nn for [name]Dashiell[/name]. [name]Dash[/name] is clearly the most obvious but maybe we can put our 'berry heads together and come up with something else you like.

[name]How[/name] about
[name]Dell[/name] ([name]DashiELL[/name] or [name]Dashiell[/name] [name]ELLington[/name])
[name]Daton[/name] ([name]DAshiell[/name] ellingTON)

I think both would go with [name]Cole[/name] and [name]Cash[/name].

It doesn’t matter if they rhyme since [name]Cash[/name] is a middle name. [name]Atticus[/name] is popular here were 3 Atticuss’s in my sons music class.

I see no problem at all since [name]Cash[/name] is the mn. If you’ve found a name that you love stick with it! I think it goes wonderfully with the other names.

I dont think its a deal breaker, [name]Dashiell[/name] [name]Ellington[/name] is a great name and is fab with [name]Cole[/name] [name]Madison[/name] and [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Cash[/name].

I think if you love it you should stick with it.

I don’t think it matters since one is in the middle and one is at the front. [name]Love[/name] all your names!

I think the ABC connection is less of a problem then cash and dash might be

Thank you all for your advice and opinions. [name]Dashiell[/name] [name]Ellington[/name] it is!! i love [name]Cole[/name], [name]Beckett[/name], and [name]Dashiell[/name] together and he’s growing into the name nicely:) I truly appreciate you berries… THANK YOU!

I agree that its fine. My older three sort of have matchy mn’s ([name]Elihu[/name], [name]Eliza[/name], [name]Ezra[/name]) and its never been a problem. Sounds like you really love the name.
