I’m due in [name_u]June[/name_u] with [name_u]Baby[/name_u] #2, but we are struggling to come up with a name that I like as much as my first child’s. We named him [name_m]Ward[/name_m], which is my mom’s maiden name (my husband is named [name_u]Ryan[/name_u], which was his maternal grandmother’s maiden name). I love that [name_m]Ward[/name_m] is a somewhat unique name, you don’t hear it too often but it’s familiar to most people, easy to spell/pronounce, short and sweet. His middle name is [name_m]Peter[/name_m], which is his dad & grandfather’s middle name as well.
For our second, we’re not finding out the gender in advance. We have a girl’s name picked out ([name_f]Maren[/name_f], an old family name as well), but I’d love if we could settle on a boy’s name that works with [name_m]Ward[/name_m] and that I love. Our top contenders right now are [name_u]Rory[/name_u] and [name_u]Finn[/name_u], but there isn’t one that stands out we both love. If it’s a boy, the baby’s middle name will be [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] after my husband’s grandfather.
Of your two contenders, I would go with [name_u]Finn[/name_u]. I think that it works better with [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] as a middle name than [name_u]Rory[/name_u] does.
Other short & sweet names that give me the same old-timey feel as [name_m]Ward[/name_m]:
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_u]Alfie[/name_u] ([name_m]Alfred[/name_m]? Or is that too much of an old man name haha)
I like [name_m]Ward[/name_m] and both of your boy options. Are there any other family options, e.g. paternal grandmother’s maiden name? Or maybe [name_u]Rory[/name_u] sharing an initial with [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] could give it a family connection to make it more meaningful for you.
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Ward[/name_m] and [name_f]Maren[/name_f]! They are gorgeous. I can see why you’re having trouble coming up with a boys name. With your current two contenders, I like [name_u]Finn[/name_u] better, though maybe there is still something better out there. What about:
[name_f]Atlee[/name_f]
[name_m]Baer[/name_m]
Clive or Clyde
[name_u]Dale[/name_u]
Fraiser
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Liam[/name_m]
