Please help!! Sooooo we’re due our first baby boy im march im so excited!! Our surname is jones but we have major issues with the name choice!! The only name i like is [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] - there is so much significance for me a [name_u]March[/name_u] child bloodstone is jasper it means bringer if treasure which he will be my treasure and I just love the sound of jasper jones but my OH and his family more so are dead against it!! What can I do?? It’s causing so much upset can anyone help me find a better name or should I stick to my guns?? Btw i have a 7 year old little girl called daisy meadow so needs to kinda go with that 
I think that you both have to love his name so I wouldn’t suggest “sticking to your guns”. Maybe you need to step away from it for a short time as you have until [name_u]March[/name_u] to choose. I strongly suggest that you only discuss names with your OH and not other family or friends, as this is your child to name and it’s difficult when you get negative comments from others.
I think it’s unfair to choose a name your OH doesn’t like. If he’s helping you raise the child, he should get equal share in naming rights. My advice is to have him create a long list of names he likes and then go through the list to see if you can find any gems among them.
I don’t think both parties need to love a name (sometimes one just won’t love the name) but both should at least like it. So I’d look into other options your SO is on board with. Also nature names seem like a good Avenue to go down given your daughters name.
It’s totally up to you but I would suggest leaving family and friends out of it. It should really just be between you and SO. It will save SO much stress!
