Help! Boys names are so hard!

We are having so much trouble choosing boys names. We have 2 girls name that we love, but no boys names.

I love the names [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_m]Roman[/name_m]. But we can’t use either of them. [name_u]Jude[/name_u] because another child in my family is [name_m]Judah[/name_m].

Our last name is pronounced ‘dick’, it’s horribly unfortunate, but common where we live. But a name like [name_m]Roman[/name_m] is just not okay with our last name.

We don’t want something super common either, like [name_m]Liam[/name_m] or [name_m]Oliver[/name_m].

Two names we are debating on are [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] or [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. (Nicknames: [name_u]Kit[/name_u] or [name_u]Theo[/name_u]) Middle name would be either [name_u]Linden[/name_u] or [name_m]David[/name_m]. I am struggling with the usability of [name_m]Theodore[/name_m].

Any other ideas are very welcome.

What’s the problem with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]? I think it’s totally usable! I think [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] ‘[name_u]Kit[/name_u]’ and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] ‘[name_u]Theo[/name_u]’ are both great choices. [name_u]Kit[/name_u] ‘[name_m]Dick[/name_m]’ however does not work, imo. Also [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] ‘[name_m]Dick[/name_m]’ kinda sounds like [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] Stick. Between the two, I’d go with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m].

other ideas…
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]

I love [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Linden[/name_u]!

[name_u]Alton[/name_u]
[name_u]Casey[/name_u]
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m]
[name_u]Evan[/name_u]
[name_u]Finley[/name_u]
[name_m]Jaron[/name_m]
[name_m]Joel[/name_m]
[name_u]Murphy[/name_u]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Quinten[/name_m]

Oh I never thought of our last name with [name_u]Kit[/name_u]. :flushed: I liked [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] the most at the moment, but I guess we could just not use [name_u]Kit[/name_u] as a nickname.

I’m not sure, I guess I just felt like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] was maybe a bit long.
But I do like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Linden[/name_u] as well!

I think you should use [name_u]Jude[/name_u] if you like it. I don’t buy into the idea of ownership of names, and if you love it, use it!

I was thinking I might use it as a middle name in the future.
If we didn’t see them so often, I might use it anyway. But they’ll be close in age and be together so often… Plus my husband is big on the idea that our kids should have “their own” names (within our families anyway), I don’t think he would budge on [name_u]Jude[/name_u]. ”

I like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m].

I find [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] to be far more accessible than [name_m]Atticus[/name_m]. [name_u]Theo[/name_u] is great as well!

I love [name_u]Kit[/name_u], but as others have said, it is not the best with the surname.

[name_u]Jude[/name_u] —> do you like [name_m]Jonas[/name_m], [name_m]Jonah[/name_m], or [name_m]Julian[/name_m]?
[name_m]Roman[/name_m] --> do you like [name_m]Ronan[/name_m], [name_u]Tobin[/name_u], or [name_u]Logan[/name_u]?

Between [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], I much prefer [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], and I love the nickname [name_u]Theo[/name_u].

Thanks everyone. I’m feeling a lot better about [name_m]Theodore[/name_m].

Though I’m still open to suggestions since I still don’t quite love [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. Not like I love the girls name we picked.
