Hey I’m needing some help with names for a story I’m writing. So far the names I have are:

[name]Max[/name] (unsure whether to have his name as [name]Maximus[/name] or [name]Maximilian[/name])
I’m needing a middle name for [name]Max[/name] and a name for their brother. I’m wanting a name that goes well with [name]Katherine[/name] and that can be shortened like [name]Kate[/name] and [name]Max[/name]. I’m also wanting a classic type name like [name]Katherine[/name] is, but not keen not completely overused. [name]Kate[/name] is the oldest, born in 1978/79, her nameless brother born early 80s (around 82/83) and [name]Max[/name] being the youngest a “surprise” baby born early 90s.

One of my thoughts at first was Jacob nn Jake, but then I saw that you didn’t want an overused one If any name is overused, it’s Jacob. But here are some other suggestions:

Oliver nn Ollie (Maybe a bit too “Little kid” sounding?)

Wyatt (No nickname, but maybe you could give him a nickname not related to his real name? I.E.: One of my characters is named Isabelle, but her family calls her “Grace” because she’s so clumsy.)
Elliot (No nn again, but if his siblings are mean, I suppose they could always resort to calling him “Ellie”)
I like the suggestions of [name]Theodore[/name] “[name]Theo[/name]/[name]Teddy[/name]/[name]Ted[/name]” and [name]Elliott[/name].
[name]How[/name] about [name]Rhys[/name]/[name]Reese[/name]? It doesn’t have a nickname, but its short and is not too popular. [name]Bennett[/name] would be good but “[name]Ben[/name]” isn’t a very creative nickname. What about [name]Julian[/name] nn [name]Jules[/name], [name]Graham[/name] nn [name]Gray[/name], or [name]Alexander[/name] nn [name]Alex[/name]/[name]Xander[/name]?
I thought that [name]Katherine[/name] [name]Houghton[/name] sounded really familiar, and then I remembered that [name]Houghton[/name] was [name]Katharine[/name] Hepburn’s middle name! I have no idea how I managed to retain that piece of information.
Thanks everyone! I’ve decided to go with [name]Andrew[/name] & [name]Drew[/name] as the nickname. I was thinking of [name]Andrew[/name] earlier but wasn’t wanting him to be called [name]Andy[/name], somehow I completely forgot about [name]Drew[/name]…
So [name]Kate[/name], [name]Drew[/name] and [name]Max[/name]?
I’d go for [name]Drew[/name] as well, like [name]Drew[/name] Barrymore, and [name]Alex[/name] sounds like [name]Max[/name], so…yeah. Good luck! Oh, and, what are they like? Can you give us the personalities?
