[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there, I’m a long-time reader but first-time poster. I’m looking for advice for my second child, sister to [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] (nn Teo). [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I have a hard time agreeing on names. We both like older names, but he favors more serious/dignified names like [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] while I prefer more relaxed names like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. Middle name will be [name_f]Cate[/name_f], [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f], or [name_f]Paige[/name_f] to honor my sister.
We’ve vetoed some names, but [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] are still on the table. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any new name suggestions, or thoughts on those three?
I think a good compromise is having the longer names with a NN.
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] - [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f], [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], [name_f]Lucila[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Paige[/name_f] is beautiful
I absolutely love [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] + [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] such a stunning sibling set so distinguished and graceful. I also really like the nickname [name_f]Vivi[/name_f].
I also really like [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] she’s so sweet and classic really pretty she also has the sweet nickname [name_u]Penny[/name_u] which gives [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] vibes.
Regarding [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] she isn’t a favourite of mine I just hear the word loose she just isn’t my cup of tea but I can completely see the appeal. Maybe to appeal more towards your partners style you could use a more formal option that has the [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] nickname like [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f], [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] or even [name_f]Lucia[/name_f].
You’ve had lots of fabulous suggestions so count any repeats as me being in agreement with the berries
I maybe totally bias but [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] I thinks works perfectly to balance your styles!!
I like that [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] can be more formal but also has some sweet nicknames like [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] , V , [name_f]Vi[/name_f], etc
Thanks for the ideas, everyone! You’ve given us some new ideas to think about. I really do like the nickname [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] for [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] and can see that as a good compromise.
I would use Penelope Cate - and nickname Polly or Poppy* (I prefer Polly) or even Nell - so you’re getting best of both - a pretty, frilly name and lovely shortening. This name is delightful!
I don’t like Vivian in all its spellings - too harsh! Lucy is nice but not sure it’ll satisfy either of you.
*maybe Penelope Paige for Poppy.
Other pretty name are Livia nn Livvy; Rosemary nn Romy; Adelaide nn Daisy…
They’re all great! I lean more towards [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. Not sure if you like nicknames, but [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] and [name_u]Penny[/name_u] would be adorable
