for Jerome. Right now I have a placeholder middle because I really want Jerome right at the top of my boy list instead of floating less prominently in my loose names drawer.
I was inspired to look at Jerome with fresh eyes when I saw the first/middle combo Jerome Summerfield in my family tree a couple months ago. Jerome Summerfield wow!
I would just put that one my list, but I am humoring myself that perhaps we will have a 5th baby so I try to make my list with that in mind. I already have a son names Hugh Somerled, so I wouldn’t use Summerfield as a middle.
Thanks! I think I will consider [name_m]Scorpio[/name_m], Fields, [name_m]Kepler[/name_m] and [name_u]Kestrel[/name_u] inspired by [name_m]Kessler[/name_m], [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] and [name_u]Winter[/name_u] for Jerome’s middle in my UC.
I’ve never been a [name_m]Jerome[/name_m] fan but [name_m]Jerome[/name_m] [name_m]Summerfield[/name_m] is gorgeous! I can see why it wouldn’t work with [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] Somerled though.
I’m going to focus my suggestions on surnames that are compound nouns to try and recapture that [name_m]Summerfield[/name_m] vibe. I apologize if some of these are too out there!
Thanks! I like Fieldrush and [name_u]Meadowlark[/name_u] a lot. Anything bird related kind of ties back to my husband in a way (though more raptors/birds of prey), so that makes me like them extra.
[name_u]Douglas[/name_u] and [name_m]Fraser[/name_m] work well. I have liked [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] forever Although I wouldn’t say that surnamey-ness is a quality that I am particularly attracted to.
I have loved [name_m]Jerome[/name_m] ever since I was a kid obsessed with the House of [name_m]Anubis[/name_m]! What a wondeful name!
[name_m]Rosebanks[/name_m] kind of reminds me of [name_m]Summerfield[/name_m], how do you feel about [name_m]Jerome[/name_m] [name_m]Rosebanks[/name_m]?
[name_m]Jerome[/name_m] [name_m]Summerfield[/name_m] is perfection, but I agree [name_m]Summerfield[/name_m] and Somerled are definitely too close for irl.
Inspired by the -field… [name_m]Jerome[/name_m] [name_m]Fielding[/name_m] or [name_m]Jerome[/name_m] [name_m]Fielder[/name_m]
Inspired by birds of prey…
[name_m]Jerome[/name_m] Sparrowhawk
[name_m]Jerome[/name_m] [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] (seconding)
[name_m]Jerome[/name_m] [name_m]Falconer[/name_m]
[name_m]Jerome[/name_m] Osprey
[name_m]Jerome[/name_m] [name_u]Kestrel[/name_u]
Oh [name_m]Jerome[/name_m] [name_m]Summerfield[/name_m] is adorable! I can see why you can’t use it though.
I second [name_m]Jerome[/name_m] [name_u]Meadowlark[/name_u]! And [name_m]Jerome[/name_m] [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u].
Ok, I’ll start with the field thing,
[name_m]Jerome[/name_m] Mayfield
[name_m]Jerome[/name_m] Skyfield
[name_m]Jerome[/name_m] [name_m]Fielding[/name_m]
[name_m]Jerome[/name_m] Fieldlark
[name_m]Jerome[/name_m] Meadowbrook
[name_m]Jerome[/name_m] Springfield would be very similar.
If you like [name_u]Meadowlark[/name_u], there’s also [name_u]Larkspur[/name_u], I came across that today, it’s a flower, and thought it was really cool!
Oh birds of prey is cool!
Ooh I just saw Sparrowhawk! I think this is my favorite for you so far.
To combine, Hawkfield is really cool!
I think the bird of prey names have a different feel than the field names though.
@MichelleM I hadn’t even thought of [name_u]Jem[/name_u] as a nn, cute! I had thought more along the lines of [name_u]Rome[/name_u] or [name_u]Romy[/name_u]. I like [name_u]David[/name_u], [name_m]Nicolas[/name_m] and [name_u]Eliot[/name_u]
@columbiacharm I really like all of tour ideas! I had been considering [name_u]Kestrel[/name_u] and Osprey already! I just like the sound of [name_u]Kestrel[/name_u], and Osprey/Fishhawk is the translation of my husband’s family nn. Sparrowhawk is interesting partly because [name_u]Sparrow[/name_u] is the maiden name of a close family member . . . I really like it, but might consider it unusable for me.
@francietercis Springfield is a good one! It comes off a little less first/middle namey than [name_m]Summerfield[/name_m] to me for some reason, so I wouldn’t have thought of it myself.
