[name_m]Hi[/name_m]
First time mum here, have always loved names and the time has come for me to decide!!
I would love thoughts on our 2 chosen boys names.
Middle name will be [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] as it is my DH and FIL Middle name.
DH likes [name_m]Lewis[/name_m], although I like this name, being a teacher, I find [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] a little too common and therefore don’t love it. However my chosen boy’s name [name_u]Sonny[/name_u], I am having second thoughts on. Is it too out there?
What do you guys think
I love the name [name_u]Sonny[/name_u], I love the name [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] too but I like [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] just a little bit more. Personally, I would probably use [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] as a nickname. We’re considering naming our third son [name_m]Edison[/name_m] and calling him [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] (the same would work for any boys name that ended in -son). I would love to make [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] his full first name, but it is a bit nicknamey and I want him to have some options if he doesn’t want to go by [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] down the road.
Isn’t [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] one of those nicknames that can really be used for anyone, regardless of what their real name is? I’m pretty big on “rules” and nicknames “making sense” and I totally think [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] IS one of those nicknames you can use for any boy because he’s your son.
So, if you really wanted to, you could go with the full name [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] but call him [name_u]Sonny[/name_u].
Hmm…
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is a lovely name, it’s handsome and looks well put together. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] is cool I would prefer [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] teamed with something softer like [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_m]Jacob[/name_m]. Whereas [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] works well with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] and has a great well put together sound.
: )
I prefer [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] as a nickname rather than a full name. I like the suggestion of -son ending name as a way to get to [name_u]Sonny[/name_u], but I think in this case both you and your husband can have your way: [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] nn. [name_u]Sonny[/name_u].
Interesting that [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] is a popular name in your experience, I rarely hear it!
first poster queerky had a great suggestion: “We’re considering naming our third son [name_m]Edison[/name_m] and calling him [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] (the same would work for any boys name that ended in -son).”
[name_m]How[/name_m] about merging your two favorites together and naming him Lewison [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]? Then you could call him either [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] or [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] depending on whether a nick name fits. I kind of like the ring to it and it would be very unique.
[name_u]Sonny[/name_u] is a nn for any male child. I prefer [name_m]Louis[/name_m] ([name_u]Lou[/name_u]-ee) to [name_m]Lewis[/name_m], but at least it’s a proper name.
