Help..Corliss, Sylvia or Sabrina?

[name_f]My[/name_f] brother and [name_m]SIL[/name_m] are expecting their baby girl to arrive any minute (due on [name_f]April[/name_f] 5) and haven’t decided on a name and are seeking opinions.

[name_f]Corliss[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f] (nn will be [name_u]Rory[/name_u]) is my [name_m]SIL[/name_m] top choice. [name_f]My[/name_f] brother is ok but not loving it.

[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is my brothers top pick which she’s not crazy about but doesn’t hate.

[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] they both like, but neither love.

Any opinions? (Or suggestions…[name_f]Ava[/name_f] or [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] will be the middle name.)

I’m not crazy about [name_f]Corliss[/name_f] due to its similarity to the word “cordless”. I like [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] and both sound wonderful with [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]. I think those are the two choices they sound take to the hospital with them.

Like [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] would be a great nickname.

[name_f]Corliss[/name_f] by far!! It’s such an interesting & fresh choice. Its beautiful & I love the meaning too.

Best of luck to your family.

[name_f]Corliss[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is really beautiful! It would definitely be my choice, but if your brother isn’t fully on board, what about [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]? It has a similar feel and meaning/origin but is maybe a bit less unusual? [name_f]Cerys[/name_f] and [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] also have similar feelings to me.

Secondly I like [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] just because it’s so cool - I like [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] a lot too, but it’s a bit too classic for me. I really dislike [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] in the middle.

What about [name_f]Stella[/name_f]? To me it combines the styles of all these names.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite is [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f].

[name_f]Lilia[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Marit[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Hettie[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Hattie[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]

I have [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] on my guilty pleasure list, both names honor and have special meaning for us.

[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is beautiful! [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] and [name_f]Corliss[/name_f] are okay, but I feel like neither one of them should have to compromise more than the other for the name of their child. I would encourage them to keep [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] as their back-up, but keep searching for the perfect one that gets them both really excited.

Good luck!

I like [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] the best.

[name_f]Corina[/name_f], [name_f]Cosette[/name_f], [name_f]Coralia[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] seem to have sounds that both parties like, maybe also [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f].
Out of the three I love [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f], it just sparkles.

I love [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f], but I’m not a fan of [name_f]Corliss[/name_f] - it sounds too much like ‘careless,’ which is where the name comes from, I think. If they like the sounds of [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f], [name_f]Corliss[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], I’d suggest [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f] - it’s light, feminine, shares a lot of sounds with [name_f]Corliss[/name_f], gives me the same 1800s-to-1990s feeling that I get from [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] (hello, [name_f]Melissa[/name_f] [name_u]Joan[/name_u] [name_m]Hart[/name_m]) and [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f].

[name_f]Sylvana[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvaine[/name_f] are two [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] variants that I think are lovelier and fresher–maybe one of those?

[name_f]Corliss[/name_f] is interesting and [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] is very pretty, so really any of the three will be great.

i have a 3 year old [name_f]Silvia[/name_f]. It is beautiful and unique, but not confusing in any situation of pronounciation / etc. I get SO many compliments on it. Its bren my favorite for years and years. I love that there are no other [name_f]Silvia[/name_f]'s, its not popular or trendy. Best of luck!!!

p.s theres a beautiful shakespear sonnet of [name_f]Silvia[/name_f], look it up. gorgeous!!!

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite by far is [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] (lovely) and my second choice [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]. [name_f]Corliss[/name_f] holds no appeal to me whatsoever.

[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is my favorite combination here. [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] follows close behind. [name_f]Corliss[/name_f] just isn’t my style.

Thanks for the suggestions!! I will pass them all on!
@axls123 - I know [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f] is one they’ve tossed around, but they think it’s too similar to my [name_f]Clara[/name_f]'s name.

I think she’s hung up on [name_f]Corliss[/name_f] because she loves [name_u]Rory[/name_u], but neither one of them likes [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] or [name_f]Loralei[/name_f]. They’ve waited so long for this baby that I think they’re overthinking the name a bit.

[name_f]Corliss[/name_f] sounds…I dunno, lispy?

I think [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] is my favourite. I know a 5 year old little [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] who is absolutely lovely

I agree with [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] on the suggestion of [name_f]Stella[/name_f]

What about a [name_f]Rose[/name_f] name nn [name_u]Rory[/name_u]?

[name_f]Corinne[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is their current front runner!! [name_f]Corina[/name_f] is also a consideration as that combines both of their favorites.

[name_f]Corinne[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Corina[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]?? (Either way, hopefully little [name_u]Rory[/name_u] will be here soon!

I think [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is lovely! It seems like a perfect compromise. Also, I think [name_f]Ava[/name_f] in the middle separates the N sounds in [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] and [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] nicely.

I like [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] more than [name_f]Corina[/name_f], especially because I think the pronunciation is a little clearer - is [name_f]Corina[/name_f] said ‘KOR-ih-nah’, ‘KUH-rih-nah’, ‘kor-EE-nah’, ‘kuh-[name_f]REE[/name_f]-nah’, etc. I personally would say it kuh-[name_f]REE[/name_f]-nah, but are they picky about how people pronounce it?

I have only ever heard ‘kor-INN’ for [name_f]Corinne[/name_f], even though I know it could possibly be said ‘kor-REEN,’ and it seems like a safer and prettier choice.
