We are all over the place with names. [name_m]Can[/name_m] I get your opinions? Some context to each below:
Zaela (pronounced like Zay-la, our fav but worried about mispronunciation. Zae for short)
[name_f]Tyla[/name_f] (2.5 yr old son picked this, [name_m]Ty[/name_m] for short)
[name_f]Danae[/name_f] (nod to hubby’s late father named Dana)
[name_f]Teyla[/name_f] or [name_f]Tayla[/name_f] (no attachment, Tey/Tay for short)
[name_f]Hollyn[/name_f] (no attachment)
[name_f]Kaira[/name_f] (no attachment, [name_u]Kai[/name_u] for short)
Middle name would likely be [name_u]Jade[/name_u] or [name_f]Fae[/name_f] depending on first name.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are Zaela, [name_f]Danae[/name_f], and [name_f]Hollyn[/name_f]!
I think Zaela is pretty clear pronunciation-wise, though some people might assume it’s spelled [name_f]Zayla[/name_f]. Zae is such a cute and fiery nickname.
I like [name_f]Danae[/name_f] a lot, and the family connections make it even better! I’ve never seen [name_f]Hollyn[/name_f] before but it’s really sweet sounding which makes me like it.
I think Zaela [name_u]Jade[/name_u], [name_f]Hollyn[/name_f] [name_u]Jade[/name_u], or [name_f]Hollyn[/name_f] [name_f]Fae[/name_f] would make great names. Personally I don’t love the sound of [name_f]Danae[/name_f] [name_f]Fae[/name_f] or [name_f]Danae[/name_f] [name_u]Jade[/name_u] that much – maybe [name_f]Danae[/name_f] [name_f]Hollyn[/name_f]? Zaela [name_f]Danae[/name_f] would also be really nice to use your favorite name and also honor your husband’s father.
Zaela is really nice. I like I like [name_f]Kaira[/name_f] the best though. I like that it means “alluring, charming”. That’s so nice and welcoming.
Zaela [name_u]Jade[/name_u], and [name_f]Kaira[/name_f] [name_u]Jade[/name_u] are beautiful. I feel like [name_f]Kiara[/name_f] [name_u]Jade[/name_u] aesthetically would look better though. I’ll give Zaela credit where it’s due and say it’s pretty, but pronounciation might be a problem.
I love Tyla! I have a really good friend named this but spelled Taila - everyone always thinks her name is Talia, so I think Tyla is a great spelling!
Zaela (which I got the pronunciation for without reading! I hope it would be pretty easy…) and Danae are also lovely.
Zaela or [name_f]Tyla[/name_f]! Zaela probably wouldn’t be pronounced incorrectly very often, if at all. I would like to suggest [name_u]Tyler[/name_u]! I think [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] is so cute for a little girl, but DH vetoed!
However, I do think [name_f]Danae[/name_f] is the most special with the family connections.
Zaela [name_u]Jade[/name_u] is my first pick for you. I think the pronunciation would be a minor issue at best.
Without the middles you’ve listed:
[name_f]Danae[/name_f] would be my pick. I love the tribute! I do just suggest different middles as visually it’s a lot of in your face of repeating letters with Both [name_f]Danae[/name_f] [name_f]Fae[/name_f] or [name_f]Danae[/name_f] [name_u]Jade[/name_u]
I like [name_f]Tyla[/name_f] but between that and Tesla/ [name_f]Tayla[/name_f] I foresee a lot of potential annoyance with people thinking the name is [name_u]Taylor[/name_u].
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is [name_f]Danae[/name_f].
I feel [name_f]Tyla[/name_f] would forever be confused with [name_u]Tyler[/name_u]. I wonder about [name_f]Twyla[/name_f], [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], or [name_f]Tressa[/name_f]?
I like [name_u]Holland[/name_u], [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] or [name_u]Holly[/name_u] a lot, but not so much [name_f]Hollyn[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Kaira[/name_f] would often get Kare-ah pronunciation, whereas you are probably after Ky-rah? Maybe [name_f]Kyra[/name_f] nn [name_m]Ky[/name_m]?
I love Zaela of this and can’t see any pronunciation issues. Zae is a nice nickname.
[name_f]My[/name_f] second favourite would probably be Teyla/Tayla
I can see [name_f]Kaira[/name_f] getting lost in the variety of [name_f]Keira[/name_f] / [name_f]Kara[/name_f] names as the vowels aren’t that distinguishable, at least in my accent. [name_f]Tyla[/name_f] just reminds me of all the 90s and 00s TV characters named [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] but there’s nothing wrong with it. [name_f]Danae[/name_f] I love and want to put as second choice but it’s the pronunciation that’s throwing me here and it getting mistaken as some kind of [name_u]Danny[/name_u] variant. No real thoughts on [name_f]Hollyn[/name_f] either way.
Thanks, everyone. We do agree neither middle name option goes with [name_f]Danae[/name_f] (too much A sounds) and would pick something else, like [name_u]Skye[/name_u]. Otherwise middle name would be [name_u]Jade[/name_u] or [name_f]Fae[/name_f].
We love Zaela but others (and someone online with a kid that name) have said it looks like our is often mispronounced Za-Ella or Zalea like [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] the flower
I don’t think Zaela will have much trouble with pronunciation- it seems intuitive enough to me!
She may have to spell it out for people, bitbthat’s acommon issue (I’m a Brittany for example, I always have to spell it for people or expect it to be spelled wrong lol.)
I think it’s so cute that big brother put out a suggestion, though admittedly I’m not keen on Tyla. I wonder what the little dude would think of Twyla or Tyra and keeping the nickname Ty?
Danae would make a cool honor middle! Zaela Danae, Tyla / Twyla Danae, or Kaira Danae? Of course Jade or Fae work just as well with most of these too.
Not a fan of Teyla or Hollyn (prefer Holly or Holland.)
Kaira is cool! I have a friend, spelled Kyra, who gets a lot of compliments. Kai is another short and sweet nickname. I think this is a strong option.
Zaela - I love the sound of this name, but I prefer the spelling Zayla/Zaylah.
[name_f]Tyla[/name_f] - Also love the sound of this, short and spunky but feel like it may be mistaken for “Tyler” said with an accent.
[name_f]Danae[/name_f] - I know a [name_f]Danae[/name_f] and she is super sweet so I have a good association with this name. Also love the nod to your husband’s late father.
[name_f]Teyla[/name_f] or [name_f]Tayla[/name_f] - Also love the sound of this, but feel like it may be mistaken for “Taylor” said with an accent.
[name_f]Hollyn[/name_f] - FAVOURITE. Sound, spelling, super cute.
[name_f]Kaira[/name_f] - Prefer spelling [name_f]Kyra[/name_f], but also love this.
[name_f]Hollyn[/name_f] [name_u]Jade[/name_u] is just amazing!!
