HELP! Delivering tomorrow!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries,
This is our 6th (and last biological) kiddo and I felt all along like I would fall in love with a name for him. Unfortunately, I have not. We have 2 little girls who have names significant to us, but they don’t go together sibset-wise at all. We have 3 other little boys, 2 named Biblical names ([name_m]Isaac[/name_m] and [name_m]Jonah[/name_m]), and 1 is a [name_m]Saint[/name_m] name ([name_m]Quentin[/name_m]). Since we’re Catholic, at the Baptism the priest asks our meaning behind the name, why we chose it, and I don’t want to just say “because I liked the way it sounded”. You know? That doesn’t mean the name has to come from the Bible or a [name_m]Saint[/name_m] but it needs to have something significant about it that I can put into words.

Anyway, so our two frontrunners have been
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] [name_m]Kenneth[/name_m]
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_m]Kenneth[/name_m]

[name_m]Kenneth[/name_m] is after DH’s late father and it’s pretty much concrete.

I’m not in love with either one. [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] fits great with our other kids. It’s a nice name. It’s just not making me swoon. [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], I really really like, but for no other reason than I like the gentle sound of it. We are trying not to repeat initials so we don’t want to use I,J,L,M, or Q. We also don’t want to use A because it would make it too similar to [name_m]BIL[/name_m]'s name. I know I sound terribly, terribly picky.

I can’t stand the thought of not giving him a name right when he comes out. Is there anything anyone can say to help me fall more in love with one of my choices or maybe with a fresh choice?

Thank you so much for reading!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] your boys’ names! I think [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] flows much better with [name_m]Kenneth[/name_m], since [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_m]Kenneth[/name_m] has 4 syllables with the same vowel sound. But you should use a name you love. I actually love both firsts.

Some more other names that might fit with sibs:

[name_m]Xavier[/name_m]
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u]
[name_m]Harvey[/name_m]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m]
[name_u]Theo[/name_u]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u]
[name_m]Emrys[/name_m]
[name_u]Rhys[/name_u]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_u]Reid[/name_u]

Here’s a few names that I think could work!

[name_m]Bennet[/name_m] - a variation of ‘[name_m]Benedict[/name_m]’ which is Latin for blessed

[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] - “mind, intellect”

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

If you love [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], why not use it? Is it because you don’t have a connection to share at the Baptism? If that’s the case, [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] is a Hebrew name meaning “truth”, and there’s plenty you can relate truth to within the Catholic faith (God Himself, Scripture, etc.). If you’re wary about [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] because it doesn’t fit in with your other boys’ names, I wouldn’t worry about that at all. You already said your girls’ names don’t either so I don’t think [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] will stick out like a sore thumb. It would be different if you wanted to name him [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] or [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] but I think [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] fits in just fine. It’s a lovely name. However, here are some suggestions just in case you fall in love with one of these. I got them off of a Catholic naming website so I couldn’t tell you how exactly they fit into your faith, but they should somehow! I tried to pick names that have the same feel as [name_u]Emmett[/name_u].

[name_m]Byron[/name_m]
[name_u]Brennan[/name_u]
[name_m]Caleb[/name_m]
[name_m]Eamon[/name_m]
[name_u]Elias[/name_u]
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m]
[name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m]
[name_m]Harvey[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugh[/name_m]
[name_m]Kellen[/name_m]
[name_u]Kieran[/name_u]
[name_m]Nathan[/name_m]
[name_m]Orson[/name_m]
[name_m]Otto[/name_m]
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m]
[name_m]Sampson[/name_m]
[name_m]Saul[/name_m]
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m]
[name_m]Timothy[/name_m]
[name_m]Titus[/name_m]
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m]
[name_m]Victor[/name_m]
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m]
[name_m]Walter[/name_m]
[name_m]Zachariah[/name_m]

Thoughts on these? Congratulations on your sixth little one!

I really like [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]! [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] is also nice. My favorite Biblical names are:

[name_m]Levi[/name_m]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Adam[/name_m]
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_m]John[/name_m]
[name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m]
[name_m]Joseph[/name_m]

+1 for [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] . Such a great name and has spiritual significance. Plus goes so well with your sons’ names.

Others:
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] (St name)
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_m]Clement[/name_m]
[name_m]Liam[/name_m]
[name_m]Jonathan[/name_m]
[name_m]Xavier[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] (St name)
[name_u]Francis[/name_u]
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m]
[name_m]Saul[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_m]Finnian[/name_m] (St name)
[name_m]Zachary[/name_m]
[name_m]Adlai[/name_m]

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], but not so much with [name_m]Kenneth[/name_m].

[name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Kenneth[/name_m]
[name_m]Dominic[/name_m] [name_m]Kenneth[/name_m]
[name_u]Francis[/name_u] [name_m]Kenneth[/name_m]

[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] is such a wonderful name. There are few solidly masculine names that come off that lovely. And [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] always reminds me of [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], which I think of as a gentle name not unlike [name_u]Emmett[/name_u].
