[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all. I was on here a few months ago for advice and yet here I am again, 2 days before my due date, with no name picked for a boy or a girl (we don’t know which it is). For a few days I’ll be certain that I’ve found the one and then I’ll doubt it all over again and add some other name to my list that I had already previously nixed. [name_m]Case[/name_m] in point, just saw someone post about the name [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], which used to be on my list, but got a lukewarm (at best) reception when I casually mentioned it to my mother. Now it’s back on the list lol.
My daughter is [name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] and we have a 2 syllable last name. Her name has significant meaning (both first and middle) so it was an easy choice.
Here are my tops (and thoughts) for girls. I would like the middle name [name_u]Ray[/name_u] or [name_u]Rae[/name_u] to honor my father, if it’s a girl…
[name_f]Noa[/name_f] [name_u]Ray[/name_u]/[name_u]Rae[/name_u]:
pros: i love the [name_f]Noa[/name_f] sound in combination with [name_f]Juno[/name_f]. I like short names, I like unique names, I like unisex names that are still pretty.
cons: if she goes to school with a bunch of boy "noah"s, she may not like her name because it’s too boyish.
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_u]Ray[/name_u]/[name_u]Rae[/name_u]:
pro: it’s a beautiful name.
con: it’s close to [name_f]Juno[/name_f] in the sense that they both begin with “Ju” but on the other hand, very different sounding - so feminine and pretty whereas [name_f]Juno[/name_f] has character. I don’t want one child to feel she has the “pretty” name and the other has the “oddball” name?
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_u]Ray[/name_u]/[name_u]Rae[/name_u]:
pro: it’s pretty and still fairly unique. I like the nickname [name_m]Haze[/name_m].
con: some say it’s dowdy, old ladyish, clunky…
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_u]Ray[/name_u]/[name_u]Rae[/name_u]:
pro: pretty, easy to pronounce, not too out there, goes well with [name_f]Juno[/name_f]
con: this was my “top” for awhile but I’m almost bored of it now…
I actually have more on the list but i’ll leave it at that for now since I have previously nixed the others on my list for one reason or another (quickly, they are [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Bria[/name_f], [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] (with [name_f]Mila[/name_f] nickname potential, also this could be an honor name for my great grandmother amalita), [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Chloe[/name_f], [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] and [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] (nickname [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]).
Moving on to boys…
Boys are hard. Like, really hard for me. The middle name is chosen and I don’t like it but it’s non negotiable so I won’t even mention it here. Here are our picks:
[name_m]Miles[/name_m]:
pro: it’s the name I settled on months ago that my husband is “fine” with (though he mentioned it sounding wimpy)… [name_f]Do[/name_f] I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] IT? I don’t know! I did, and now i’m doubting myself. The pros are: soft but strong, unique but familiar. I can see it working on a little boy and an adult.
cons: is it wimpy?! Am i already getting sick of it?
[name_m]Cole[/name_m]:
I literally threw this to the top of my list like 3 days ago out of desperation.
pros: strong and has a nice sound. Not too common either, but not out there at all.
cons: i don’t like the meaning (swarthy?!) and maybe it’s too…cowboyish (my husband says)
[name_u]Dean[/name_u]:
My husband added this to the list last week
pro: nice strong, solid name
con: not a name I ever really liked though it is growing on me? we have a close family friend named [name_u]Dean[/name_u] too, making it weird for me…
[name_u]Noah[/name_u]:
my husband said we should just go for [name_u]Noah[/name_u] if it’s a boy, and [name_f]Noa[/name_f] if it’s a girl. easy, right?
pro: i’ve always loved the name, since i was a little kid
con: it’s crazy common now and has become boring to me (for a boy)!
Other names on our list are my husbands picks and my own picks and we aren’t crazy about each others’ picks - [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] (husband), [name_m]Calvin[/name_m], [name_m]Archer[/name_m] (me - he hates [name_m]Archer[/name_m] and it was my first choice at the very beginning).
If you read this all, you are my [name_u]HERO[/name_u]! I need help, like, badly! Please! This is keeping me up at night!
