HELP! Due in 2 days and can't decide!!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all. I was on here a few months ago for advice and yet here I am again, 2 days before my due date, with no name picked for a boy or a girl (we don’t know which it is). For a few days I’ll be certain that I’ve found the one and then I’ll doubt it all over again and add some other name to my list that I had already previously nixed. [name_m]Case[/name_m] in point, just saw someone post about the name [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], which used to be on my list, but got a lukewarm (at best) reception when I casually mentioned it to my mother. Now it’s back on the list lol.

My daughter is [name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] and we have a 2 syllable last name. Her name has significant meaning (both first and middle) so it was an easy choice.

Here are my tops (and thoughts) for girls. I would like the middle name [name_u]Ray[/name_u] or [name_u]Rae[/name_u] to honor my father, if it’s a girl…

[name_f]Noa[/name_f] [name_u]Ray[/name_u]/[name_u]Rae[/name_u]:
pros: i love the [name_f]Noa[/name_f] sound in combination with [name_f]Juno[/name_f]. I like short names, I like unique names, I like unisex names that are still pretty.
cons: if she goes to school with a bunch of boy "noah"s, she may not like her name because it’s too boyish.

[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_u]Ray[/name_u]/[name_u]Rae[/name_u]:
pro: it’s a beautiful name.
con: it’s close to [name_f]Juno[/name_f] in the sense that they both begin with “Ju” but on the other hand, very different sounding - so feminine and pretty whereas [name_f]Juno[/name_f] has character. I don’t want one child to feel she has the “pretty” name and the other has the “oddball” name?

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_u]Ray[/name_u]/[name_u]Rae[/name_u]:
pro: it’s pretty and still fairly unique. I like the nickname [name_m]Haze[/name_m].
con: some say it’s dowdy, old ladyish, clunky…

[name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_u]Ray[/name_u]/[name_u]Rae[/name_u]:
pro: pretty, easy to pronounce, not too out there, goes well with [name_f]Juno[/name_f]
con: this was my “top” for awhile but I’m almost bored of it now…

I actually have more on the list but i’ll leave it at that for now since I have previously nixed the others on my list for one reason or another (quickly, they are [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Bria[/name_f], [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] (with [name_f]Mila[/name_f] nickname potential, also this could be an honor name for my great grandmother amalita), [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Chloe[/name_f], [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] and [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] (nickname [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]).

Moving on to boys…
Boys are hard. Like, really hard for me. The middle name is chosen and I don’t like it but it’s non negotiable so I won’t even mention it here. Here are our picks:

[name_m]Miles[/name_m]:
pro: it’s the name I settled on months ago that my husband is “fine” with (though he mentioned it sounding wimpy)… [name_f]Do[/name_f] I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] IT? I don’t know! I did, and now i’m doubting myself. The pros are: soft but strong, unique but familiar. I can see it working on a little boy and an adult.
cons: is it wimpy?! Am i already getting sick of it?

[name_m]Cole[/name_m]:
I literally threw this to the top of my list like 3 days ago out of desperation.
pros: strong and has a nice sound. Not too common either, but not out there at all.
cons: i don’t like the meaning (swarthy?!) and maybe it’s too…cowboyish (my husband says)

[name_u]Dean[/name_u]:
My husband added this to the list last week
pro: nice strong, solid name
con: not a name I ever really liked though it is growing on me? we have a close family friend named [name_u]Dean[/name_u] too, making it weird for me…

[name_u]Noah[/name_u]:
my husband said we should just go for [name_u]Noah[/name_u] if it’s a boy, and [name_f]Noa[/name_f] if it’s a girl. easy, right?
pro: i’ve always loved the name, since i was a little kid
con: it’s crazy common now and has become boring to me (for a boy)!

Other names on our list are my husbands picks and my own picks and we aren’t crazy about each others’ picks - [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] (husband), [name_m]Calvin[/name_m], [name_m]Archer[/name_m] (me - he hates [name_m]Archer[/name_m] and it was my first choice at the very beginning).

If you read this all, you are my [name_u]HERO[/name_u]! I need help, like, badly! Please! This is keeping me up at night!

[name_f]Amalia[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] “[name_f]Mila[/name_f]” hands down favorite girl on your list.

Your boys all seem very bland compared to [name_f]Juno[/name_f]

My favorite girls on your list (and list of rejects) are [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Mila[/name_f] (or [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] nn. [name_f]Mila[/name_f]) and [name_f]Bria[/name_f] (!!). All three I think balance [name_f]Juno[/name_f] very well. [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] nn. [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] is good too! Regarding [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]—though still uncommon, it’s becoming popular enough that I think the “dowdy” image is wearing off. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Juno[/name_f] make a quirky pair!

Other ideas:
[name_f]Delta[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] (less frilly than [name_f]Juliette[/name_f], perhaps? and less matchy)
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f]

For boys, I like [name_m]Miles[/name_m]. I don’t see it as wimpy! [name_u]Dean[/name_u] is on my own list, but it sounds so buttoned-up next to [name_f]Juno[/name_f]. I also like the pp’s suggestions of [name_u]Asa[/name_u] and [name_m]Ezra[/name_m].

Other ideas:
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]
[name_u]Cade[/name_u]
[name_m]Malachi[/name_m] (nn. [name_m]Mac[/name_m], [name_u]Kai[/name_u])
[name_m]Otis[/name_m]

with [name_f]Juno[/name_f] I like [name_f]Noa[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], and [name_f]Mila[/name_f] for girls & [name_m]Miles[/name_m] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u] for boys

I’ve never heard that meaning associated with the name [name_m]Cole[/name_m]. I associate it with [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] which has a very nice meaning. I think [name_m]Cole[/name_m] is a great option for you.

I like [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] best with [name_f]Juno[/name_f].

[name_f]Noa[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] is stunning! I like [name_m]Miles[/name_m] for a boy

Based on your comments and what goes best with [name_f]Juno[/name_f] I would pick [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] for a girl (I think it’s losing the “old lady” vibe.
[name_u]Noah[/name_u] for a boy

All the best!
We’re 3 weeks from due date and still deciding as well haha

Thanks, you guys!! It helps so much to hear others’ opinions/thoughts/associations with names just to add a different perspective and quell some of my doubts. I still don’t know what name we’ll go with but yeah, it helps. If anyone else reading wants to weigh in, please do!!!

My favorite is [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] nn [name_f]Mila[/name_f], followed by [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u]. Perfection with [name_f]Juno[/name_f].

For boys, I like [name_m]Miles[/name_m] and [name_m]Cole[/name_m] and [name_m]Archer[/name_m], though none are shining for me either. Maybe [name_m]Asher[/name_m] or [name_m]Milo[/name_m]? It has a bit more spunk in comparison to [name_m]Miles[/name_m], but then they both have similar endings.

For those who have mentioned [name_f]Amalia[/name_f], how would you pronounce it? That is one of my reservations. Would it be:
[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-MAW-lee-A (i know a lot of people do that with “a” sounds - as in [name_f]Anna[/name_f] would be Aw-na, which is not how i would ever pronounce it)
A-MA-lee-A (how i say it)
or
[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-mah/maw-[name_u]LEE[/name_u]-a

Sorry if this is confusing I just foresee a lot of different pronunciations. even my husband said it differently than me yesterday, lol.

I don’t love [name_m]Milo[/name_m] (too spunky for me) and [name_m]Asher[/name_m] has a bad association for me…Though they are both names I briefly considered!

Aw best of luck to you too!! At least you know it’s a girl so that helps narrow things down a bit :)And thank you for the input!

I would also pick [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] as a sibling for [name_f]Juno[/name_f]. I also loved the suggestion of [name_m]Felix[/name_m] for a boy, I think it has the same spunky vibe as [name_f]Juno[/name_f]. I also like [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] with [name_f]Juno[/name_f]. From your list I like [name_m]Miles[/name_m] best for a baby brother.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Juno[/name_f]!

I have a [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] so I’m partial to that…

Otherwise, [name_f]Noa[/name_f] for a girl is lovely but I’m not crazy about [name_u]Noah[/name_u] for a boy.

A few other options:

[name_f]Briar[/name_f] ( boy or girl)
[name_u]Sage[/name_u] (boy or girl)
[name_u]Rex[/name_u] (boy)
[name_u]Remy[/name_u] (boy)
[name_m]Saxon[/name_m] (boy)

[name_u]Romy[/name_u] (girl)
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f] (girl)
[name_f]Indie[/name_f] (girl)
[name_f]Greer[/name_f] (girl)
[name_u]Frankie[/name_u] (girl)
[name_u]Billie[/name_u] (girl)
