Congratulations!
I may be biased, as I have an [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] at home, but [name_f]Alice[/name_f] gets my vote!
I like :
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f]
Thanks, [name_f]Alice[/name_f] has been one of my faves from the very beginning. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is v pretty! Xx
Thank you!
Does anyone know the etiquette with the accent on Élodie? Should you have it or not? Does it make a difference? We are in the UK and are not [name_m]French[/name_m] xx
I really love [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]. Another suggestion just slightly different is [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f].
I looooove the sound of Élodie [name_f]Luna[/name_f]!
re the ´, I think it is more correct to have it. It also depends whether you want people to pronounce the first syllable more like eh- or ay-, I suppose. I’m not sure whether diacritical marks are allowed on UK birth certificates, but I’m guessing they are?
Personally, I think [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] works fine with or without it, I’d let your individual preference dictate spelling.
Anyway, good luck choosing!
Hey there, yes it does make a difference, however if you are predominately anglophone then I think you can drop the accent and no one would judge. Our house is bilingual so our daughter has an accent in her name, but on official documentation it usually doesn’t allow for accents anyways, so she has both so to speak
I think as an anglophone in an English-speaking country, you can definitely drop the accent, although of course if you like it you can also keep it (though keep in mind how many people won’t be able to find it on keyboards and things).
I voted for [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and suggest [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f].
Élodie should have an accent, if you desire the [name_m]French[/name_m] styling.
In [name_m]French[/name_m] grammar, you technically can always use accents in capitals. Maybe you’re confused because stylistically, capitals often aren’t accented in print. But for given names, and other proper nouns, the accent is used even when the letter is capitalized.
I felt really torn between [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]! Both seem like great fits with sister [name_f]Evie[/name_f] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f].
I ultimately voted for [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] because I think it bridges the gap between serious [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] and playful [name_f]Evie[/name_f].
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] is just a little too close to [name_f]Evie [/name_f] for me.
These names are so beautiful. I love [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]. I wouldn’t use the accent on [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] if I were you since [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] without the accent is far more popular in the UK.
As someone conversant in [name_m]French[/name_m], I’d say that if you keep the accent you’re more likely to get people pronouncing [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] as AY-low-dee; w/o the accent it’s most likely going to be pronounced [name_f]ELL[/name_f]-oh-dee. So keeping or losing the accent mark depends on which pronunciation you’d prefer.
I voted for [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] because I thought the flow of the two names was the best of your options. W/o knowing what your last name is, it’s impossible to hear what the flow will be w/just the first name & last name, because that’s how your daughter will be referred to an overwhelming amount of the time, unless you plan to use both first & middle names together all the time (I did know a family in which the mom called all four of the kids & all of the grandkids by their first & middle names).
While looking at your names I mixed them up & came up w/[name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] & Élodie [name_f]Rose[/name_f]…not sure if those are appealing to you or not. Good luck!
Thank you all for your comments and suggestions.
Having thought about it for a few hours, I think we would go without the accent on [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], it is that pronunciation we like and although it looks so pretty with the accent, it would suit us with our English surname better without.
It’s so hard to choose!! ”
This is a rare poll in which I love every one of the options! So I narrowed down in this way: you already have an E name so I crossed off [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] feels too long and formal next to [name_f]Evie[/name_f], so I crossed that off. [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] are both beautiful and go well with siblings, but especially love the combo of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] so I voted for this.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] hands down:) such a pretty name and goes perfectly with your kiddos. Great names!!
I know a lot of people said [name_f]Alice[/name_f] but let me just explain why I think ‘no’. The similarity between [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] bothers me and I think it then leaves [name_f]Evie[/name_f] out.
I voted for [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f] however I would actually prefer [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] :). My second choice would be [name_f]Grace[/name_f] rather than [name_f]Gracie[/name_f]. [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f] or [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] would be gorgeous!
I voted for [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], but I also really like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]. I just think it is too similar to [name_f]Evie[/name_f].
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f]!
