Alright, first of all - I’m very engaged in Frozen (as evident by my icon, lol). I thought it was a decent film (though the manuscript was super weak, they should have made [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] the lead and avoided unnecessary side-stories) and sure, sure, [name_f]Anna[/name_f] was cool and relatable - but the real star of the film was [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]. She’s not the least evil, she was merely trying to protect her loved ones from her curse. She’s definitely not the worst person to share name with is all I’m saying.
Secondly, I will never understand the point of giving up a name you have loved for a long time because of popularity. Does love for the name not overpower the aversions against it being popular? If so, I have a hard time seeing how one can truly love said name, but that might just be me. Only thirteen girls were named [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] in Norway in 2012, I think it will take quite a while for it to become properly popular.
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] is not Scandinavian, by the way. It’s [name_m]German[/name_m]. [name_f]Vilhelmina[/name_f] and Vilhelmine would be the Scandinavian versions - with Vilja, [name_f]Vilma[/name_f] and [name_f]Wilma[/name_f] being popular derivations of them. Scandinavian suggestions: [name_u]Alva[/name_u], Alvilda/Alvilde, [name_f]Annika[/name_f], [name_f]Asta[/name_f], [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], [name_u]Dagny[/name_u], [name_f]Eira[/name_f], [name_f]Ellisif[/name_f]/Ellisiv, [name_f]Elva[/name_f], Embla, Freyja, Frigga, [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f], [name_f]Iselin[/name_f], [name_f]Josefina[/name_f], [name_f]Kajsa[/name_f], [name_f]Karolina[/name_f], Lerke/Lærke, [name_f]Lilja[/name_f], [name_f]Lovisa[/name_f], [name_f]Nanna[/name_f], Sága, [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f], Svea, [name_f]Tuva[/name_f], [name_f]Vendela[/name_f], Veslemøy, [name_f]Vigdis[/name_f], Vilde and Ylva.
