Please help us choose! Weāre finding it almost impossible to make a final decision this time around Choosing [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] for our daughter was such a straightforward decision as we both loved the name from the start. We feel that itās both a strong, yet femininely sweet vintage name packed with substance. Perhaps thatās the problem; weāre looking for a name that we love as much as [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and which has the same vintage charm. Why is it so hard finding an equally strong and classic masculine name to pair with [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]?!
Apologies to everyone who has already put forward their ideas. Iāve started this new thread as the previous one was concentrating on whether [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] or [name_m]Archer[/name_m] was a better fit.
My partner just isnāt liking [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] as much as I am, so weāre now down to two choices: [name_m]Archer[/name_m] or [name_m]Atticus[/name_m]?
This is hard, because I really like both. I do prefer [name_m]Archer[/name_m] in general, but I think [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] goes better with [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f].
I much prefer [name_m]Archer[/name_m]. I maybe depends on where you live but I find that [name_m]Archer[/name_m] isnāt too common but a recognizable, handsome name. I find [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] somehow feeling longer which may result in a nickname and Iām not a nickname person but that depends on what you like. Another option is to take both names to the hospital and decide when you meet him?
Thank you for bringing this point up. Iāve never thought about the two similar nicknames for [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] & [name_m]Atticus[/name_m].
We call [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] by her full name and were planning on doing the same with [name_m]Atticus[/name_m].
Would [name_m]Artie[/name_m] work as a potential nickname for [name_m]Atticus[/name_m]? If [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]'s name is shortened when she gets older, I definitely wouldnāt want to be calling for two Addies!!
[name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] are too close for me, since they start with the same sound, have the same number of syllables, and have the stress in the same place. [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] is also very tied to To Kill a Mockingbird for me. So I vote [name_m]Archer[/name_m] and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]! I also like [name_m]Oscar[/name_m]. Another suggestion similar to [name_m]Archer[/name_m] is [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], if you are still looking.
[name_m]Archer[/name_m] and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] have similar beginnings and seem a bit matchy.
Others are saying the beginning sounds of [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] are too close but maybe because I pronounce [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] I donāt really see it? If you do, go for [name_m]Archer[/name_m]. I would personally choose [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] but at the end of the day itās up to you.
I do highly recommend taking both [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and [name_m]Archer[/name_m] and deciding when you meet him.
Mourning the loss of [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] for you! [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] were perfect.
I really love [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], but with [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], I like [name_m]Archer[/name_m] more. With my lazy American accent, [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] have a nearly identical start, and something about [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_m]Archer[/name_m] seems more special.
I hear you! I was really happy with [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] as a sibset so now itās just feels too hard finding another boyās name that sounds as good with [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
I just wish my partner and I were on the same page. Iāve always loved the name [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and I know it shouldnāt really matter at the end of the day about sibling compatibility but Iām seriously doubting whether [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] are just too much together.
When you hear the name [name_m]Archer[/name_m] do you think of a classic, old fashioned name?? I really want this style of name for our little man and I know Iām overthinking things, but Iām really not sure that [name_m]Archer[/name_m] is a name that has been used for centuries as a first name?
And, are there any other not-too-popular names to suit [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]'s old fashioned style that weāve overlooked? I think some fresh ideas may be what we need!
Hmm, I prefer [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] but do think itās too similar to [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. [name_m]Archer[/name_m] doesnāt qualify as vintage to me.
Have you considered:
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Abraham[/name_m]
[name_m]Leopold[/name_m]
[name_m]Leonard[/name_m]
[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m]
[name_m]Archibald[/name_m] (vintage with nn [name_m]Archie[/name_m] like [name_m]Archer[/name_m])
I especially like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] together. Plus [name_f]Addy[/name_f] and [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] are cute together as well!
