We are struggling to finalize a name for our baby boy who is due very soon! Would love some feedback-- we are settled on a first name so really this is for a middle name. We don’t like anything too trendy/common. The problem is that many of the names I like are unisex and I don’t want his name to sound feminine-- I just like those classic English names that started out as masculine and have become more acceptable for girls now. Here is what we have:
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Aubry[/name_u]/[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] (my definite favorite!..but I know it’s mostly used for girls nowadays)
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] (think this is bordering on too trendy)
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] is my favourite too
I don’t think the unisex thing matters too much, especially as it’s a middle name but you could use [name_m]Aubin[/name_m], [name_m]Audley[/name_m] or [name_u]Auden[/name_u] to make it more clear if it bothers you
I just think the combo looks very nice and flows very well
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] is my second favourite
Some other suggestions:
[name_m]Rhodes[/name_m]
[name_u]Avery[/name_u]
[name_u]Lane[/name_u]
[name_u]Ellery[/name_u]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u]
[name_u]Chandler[/name_u]
[name_m]Eldridge[/name_m]
[name_m]Daley[/name_m]
[name_u]Adley[/name_u]
[name_m]Bartley[/name_m]
[name_m]Brantley[/name_m]
I think all of the options are really handsome, and definitely not too feminine if you were worried about that (actually, [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] is more boy to me, but I think that’s where I live rather than anything else). My favourite is [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m], and I think [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] is possibly a bit trendy as a first, but as a middle sounds much more distinguished, especially with [name_m]Julian[/name_m] (which I love love love by the way) - [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] is also very dashing. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Beckett[/name_m], [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u] or [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Rhett[/name_m]? Those are just the immediate ones I thought of, but [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] still takes top place for me.
I love [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] and [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]. [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] to me doesn’t sound too feminine. It is common on girls now but I do know a fair share of male Aubreys. I don’t think anyone I know would consider it strange to see [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] on a male, especially because it’s a middle name. I like [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] because it’s not something you hear a lot anymore. It’s very unique and I really like the flow of [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]!
Thanks!!! Here in the U.S. I know [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] is primarily used for girls, but I think it’s far more suited for a boy-- just don’t want any confusion since his first name also has a ‘girl’s name’ within in ([name_f]Julia[/name_f]). I actually really like [name_u]Emery[/name_u] too! Thank you for the suggestions!
I have to say, [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] is my favorite, too! But I also love those types of names–[name_u]Addison[/name_u], [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], [name_u]Bailey[/name_u], [name_u]Avery[/name_u], [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u], [name_u]Harper[/name_u], [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], etc., etc… If not [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u], I think I would vote for [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m], but I’m not a huge [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] fan, so it’s by a huge margin. [name_u]Blake[/name_u] and [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] are nice ([name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] would be my third vote), but they both sound really cowboyish to me, which [name_m]Julian[/name_m] doesn’t (for me; maybe it does to others?), so I find [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m]/[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] to be sort of mismatched. Nice names, still, though!
I like [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Aubry[/name_u], probs my favorite of all your choices. [name_u]Aubry[/name_u] over [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u], because that’s the spelling usually used for females.
I like [name_m]Axel[/name_m] too!! As for the spelling ‘[name_u]Aubry[/name_u]’-- I do like this and think it looks more masculine without the E…just afraid people may think it is pronounced Au-[name_f]BRI[/name_f] (as in [name_m]Brian[/name_m]). Hmmm… Does it still look like it should be pronounced [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]?
Out of your options, I personally feel that [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] has the most masculine sound and also happens to be my favorite. I should probably note however, as a disclaimer, that I am seriously considering [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] if I ever have another daughter, and therefore it has strong female connotations to me personally.
Best of luck to you!
