Help finding a new very Catholic surname to match my unusual first name!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] guys

Let me know if you think this sounds ok. I am thinking of changing surname to Avelino / Avelina

Rosalia Avelino

Most of the time I would go by Avelino . Does this sound weird or OK or nice??

I am undecided about the 2nd middle name. (Pia). I may go with some variant of John / Juan because of my grandpa. Suggestions welcome.

My dad says Avelino as a surname sounds like a wine or a lino carpet. I do like St Andrew Avellino though.

It must look OK professionally. I am a professor so my surname alone is on all the references to my printed papers. Again it must not be too common - so people know my work is my own.

It must be easy to spell or pronounce because people already find my first name being a mouthful.

If you have no ideas , any suggestions of number of syllables or last letters or recommended assonance is welcome!

If you have any ideas for a 2nd middle please let me know also

Aquino
San [name_m]Nicolas[/name_m]
Vivas

I don’t have any ideas myself, but you might pop over to Sancta Nomina for ideas. It’s a Catholic naming blog.

If the name didn’t have to be catholic, what sort of names do you think could work?

You could always take the last name (if known) of a saint born on your birthday. Or perhaps a saint or church leader with positive attributes or that you identify with.

I am undecided about a 2nd middle name. ([name_f]Pia[/name_f]). I may go with some variant of [name_m]John[/name_m] / [name_m]Juan[/name_m] because of my grandpa. Suggestions welcome.

[name_f]Kamala[/name_f] Avelino works. It sounds natural I think. I like the short simplicity of [name_f]Pia[/name_f]. The only versions of [name_m]John[/name_m] I can think of that would fit would be [name_f]Juana[/name_f] or [name_f]Gianna[/name_f]. [name_f]Juanita[/name_f], [name_f]Joana[/name_f] (Portuguese version), or [name_f]Giovanna[/name_f] would be a bit long in my opinion, only because the first two names are on the longer side.
