Help! Finn keeps sticking in my head but is it too popular?

As a [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] growing up in the 80’s with 4 other [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]'s in my class all through primary school I am determined not to name my children something that they will have multiples in their classes. Since we live abroad (hong Kong) it won’t be too hard but if we ever move back to [name_f]Canada[/name_f] (where I am from) or AUstralia (hubby) I don’t want them to suddenly have the same name as others ha ha.

I have a long boys list but the one hubby and I keep coming back to is [name_u]Finn[/name_u]… I am concerned that this is too popular or becoming popular? I have had a look at the ranks and it isnt in the top 100’s for the USA or Aus but seems to be pretty high ranks in Europe. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you guys know many boys named [name_u]Finn[/name_u]?

I also feel that the way the name would sound it should be Finnlee ( [name_u]Lee[/name_u] is a family name thats why this spelling) as we want to use the middle name [name_m]Banks[/name_m] ( also a family name) So it would be Finnlee [name_m]Banks[/name_m] [name_m]Ritchie[/name_m] … is the spelling Finnlee too feminine? I do feel that it sounds funny short if named [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Banks[/name_m] [name_m]Ritchie[/name_m]?
or does it? what do you guys think?

Other names on our list are:
[name_u]Ever[/name_u] - I love this for boy or girl but Hubby isnt 100% on it yet
[name_m]Eero[/name_m] - pronounced [name_m]Arrow[/name_m] (scandinavian name) … we both like this but feel people would have trouble knowing how its pronounced should we just use [name_m]Arrow[/name_m]? or is that weird
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m] - since we are a very international couple and travel is our thing I think this name makes sense to our family dynamic haha but is it too out there?

I like [name_u]Finn[/name_u] a lot. I don’t think it’s too popular, but I suppose it depends on what your definition of popular is. I think [name_u]Finlee[/name_u] is too feminine-looking, but not sounding, if that makes any sense. I think people who saw the name [name_u]Finlee[/name_u] would think girl, while [name_u]Finley[/name_u] is more open. I’m not fond of [name_u]Ever[/name_u]. I think [name_m]Eero[/name_m] is great, although maybe consider the spelling Aero? I like [name_m]Atlas[/name_m], too, but I like [name_m]Eero[/name_m] better.

I wouldn’t say [name_u]Finn[/name_u] is too popular, it is definitely on the current trendy train though. My favorite of your list is [name_m]Atlas[/name_m]. I think that even though it is unique, it isn’t so out there as to be unwearable. [name_u]Ever[/name_u] reminds me too much of [name_u]Everly[/name_u], which reads strictly feminine. Some do not like feminine boy names.

[name_u]Finn[/name_u] is definitely not “too popular”. It’s also worth pointing out that even the top names of 2014 and 2015 aren’t used as often as the top names of 1980 and before. I would classify [name_u]Finn[/name_u] as being trendy.

[name_u]Ever[/name_u] feels feminine to me.

I think that since [name_m]Eero[/name_m] starts with the same first few letters as the beloved donkey Eeyore, people will pronounce [name_m]Eero[/name_m] as “ear-oh”.

[name_m]Atlas[/name_m] is not my style but the best of the bunch, [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

[name_m]Atlas[/name_m] is my favorite from your list.
Personally I think [name_u]Finn[/name_u] is too popular and [name_u]Finlee[/name_u] sounds feminine to me. What about [name_u]Flynn[/name_u]?
I think [name_m]Eero[/name_m] would be constantly misspelled and mispronounced. I really like [name_m]Arrow[/name_m].
[name_u]Ever[/name_u] is feminine to me as well, especially with how popular [name_m]Everley[/name_m] is becoming for girls.

Thanks guys! I have moved [name_u]Ever[/name_u] to our female list as I do love it for a girl… and [name_u]Everly[/name_u] (another I love) is getting used a bit too much.

A bit random but on the phone the other day my mom who i have never given any inclination of names we are looking at said " i dreamed you had a boy and named him [name_u]Finn[/name_u]…I really like that name!" ummm creepy!! I didn’t say anything but now it makes me think maybe she has heard it many places.

If we just stuck with [name_u]Finn[/name_u] does it sound weird as [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Banks[/name_m] [name_m]Ritchie[/name_m]… I feel something is up with the syllables though. Hubby really hates [name_u]Finley[/name_u] and wants to just stick with [name_u]FInn[/name_u] if we use it.

On the other hand most of you loving the name [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] has made me feel more comfortable with using it and I feel it is a name that just makes sense to us… how we live and our family although they may wrinkle their noses when they first hear it will know that it was a name for us and it will grow on them…

Spelling Aero that way makes me giggle as I grew up in the air force in an aviation strong family and have actually worked in the aviation industry myself so it actually does make sense as well… we actually had [name_m]Jett[/name_m] on our list for a while because of this ha ha…

Still so on the fence ha ha!

On the other hand if we do have a boy and use [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] and our second turns out to be a boy as well and use [name_m]Arrow[/name_m] or Aero… [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] and Aero do sound like pretty cool brothers I would want to get to know…

I agree with the previous posters - [name_u]Finn[/name_u] isn’t too popular to use, I like [name_u]Finley[/name_u] as well, but the [name_u]Finlee[/name_u] spelling is feminine to me. I like the [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] suggestion as well! What about [name_m]Flint[/name_m], [name_u]Finch[/name_u], [name_m]Fletcher[/name_m], Fitch, [name_m]Fuller[/name_m]?

I see what you’re saying about the choppy sound just using [name_u]Finn[/name_u]. Is there an option to extend or add to [name_m]Banks[/name_m]? Or perhaps a double middle name?

Instead of [name_u]Ever[/name_u], have you considered [name_u]Everett[/name_u], [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] or [name_u]Emmet[/name_u]?

If you like [name_m]Atlas[/name_m], why not go for it? It would be a cool MN too if you’re not sold on going full on with the first name!

I love [name_u]Finn[/name_u], too. I don’t know anyone by that name. I love [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] and [name_u]Finley[/name_u] and was going to suggest [name_u]Finch[/name_u]. [name_f]IMO[/name_f] [name_u]Finlee[/name_u] is feminine.

I like [name_m]Atlas[/name_m], Earo/Aero, [name_u]Flynn[/name_u]. [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] is nice and feels a lot like [name_m]Atlas[/name_m].

Other [name_m]Fin/name_m names: [name_m]Findley[/name_m], [name_m]Fineas[/name_m], [name_m]Finian[/name_m], [name_u]Finlay[/name_u], [name_m]Finton[/name_m].

[name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Banks[/name_m] is a bit choppy, but his mn will seldom be used anyhow. [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Ritchie[/name_m] is fine.
