Hey all, my sister has been thinking about names lately but has run into a snag. She wants to use the first name [name_f]Eira[/name_f] (this is non-negotiable as it’s one of the few names she and her boyfriend can agree on).
She also wants the middle to be an honour name for our great-grandmother, [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f] (pronounced [name_u]CLARE[/name_u]-iss). She really likes [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f], but can’t use it because the last name would be one syllable - sounds similar to [name_m]Steve[/name_m] - and she thinks it sounds too abrupt. [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] obviously is a little rhymey with [name_f]Eira[/name_f], and anyway it’s already been used as an honour middle for our niece.
For added context, she has one son named Bastion [name_m]Albert[/name_m] ([name_m]Albert[/name_m] is after our grandfather). A little info about our gram: she’s in her 90s and a poet, comedienne, and former cook. When she was younger she went by [name_f]Sissy[/name_f].
I know a lot of you are great with finding “clever” honour names, so: any ideas?
[name_u]Love[/name_u] the suggestion of [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Nadine[/name_f]! Also, I don’t think middle names are said with the surname very often - I doubt the flow is too abrupt for her not to use [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f], but even if it is, the full name will rarely be used in sequence!
The only name I can think of is [name_f]Carys[/name_f]. It has a shorter ‘a’ sound so I think [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Carys[/name_f] flows well, and it has a lovely meaning too.
What about [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Cicily[/name_f]
there are also the Calre family ofnames
[name_u]Clare[/name_u]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Clarissa[/name_f]
Clairmond
[name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Nadine[/name_f] is a great suggestion!!
[name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Carys[/name_f], [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Cosette[/name_f], [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Clarity[/name_f], [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] came to mind.
[name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] and [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Lois[/name_f] also came to mind as combining [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] and [name_f]Hope[/name_f]
