[name]Hi[/name] everyone! This is my first post. I really need some feedback on which of the above names (if any) sound good with our daughters name and our last name.
We are having the hardest time naming this little guy and those are the only ones we both seemmto “not both hate” so far.
Our daughters name is [name]Seraphina[/name] [name]Audrey[/name]. Our last name sounds like Hatlin and begins with an H.
Heres my concerns with the above names:
[name]Harvey[/name] Hatlin - both two syllables + alliteration seems like a dealbreaker. WDYT? I really do love the name though.
[name]Louis[/name] - nothing wrong with it, I just worry its a little plain
[name]Cassius[/name] - not a huge fan of NN [name]Cash[/name], and I also read on here that some pronounce it [name]Cass[/name]-see-us, which I dont like
[name]Ezekiel[/name] - I dont like the full name, but I do think it sounds good with DDs name and I do like the NN [name]Zeke[/name] a lot. This is DHs favorite, too. We plan on having a large family and I worry that we wont be able to come up with complimentary boy names…would we be stuck in a Bible name rut?
If this LO turns out to be a girl, her name will be [name]India[/name], [name]Bellamy[/name], [name]Cosima[/name] or [name]Estelle[/name]. [name]Just[/name] to give you a better idea of what boy names we’re looking for to compliment such princessy girl names in a sibset.
My nephew is “just [name]Zeke[/name]” and I normally prefer it as a nn, it fits him as his complete first name. (Plus when he was little, we started calling him"baby squeak" which is adorable!). As far as [name]Ezekiel[/name] goes, I think there is a trend of old testament quirky old man names happening lately, nobody would bat an eye to an [name]Ezekiel[/name] with siblings having non Biblibal names imho. I know boys named [name]Judah[/name], Absolom, [name]Moses[/name], [name]Abraham[/name], [name]Gideon[/name], and [name]Ezra[/name]. All of their sisters have names that go but are not Biblical as do their brothers ([name]Maeve[/name], [name]Opal[/name], [name]Fred[/name] to name a few). I prefer [name]Lewis[/name] to [name]Louis[/name], but the nn [name]Lou[/name] is awesome on a guy. I do not like alliteration with first and last names, sorrt. Stinks since [name]Harvey[/name] is such a coolname too. I pn it “[name]Cash[/name]-ius” and have never heard it said the other way ttytt. I live in the north eastern US so maybe this pn is used elsewhere.

[name]Love[/name] your taste. My favorite of your choices is [name]Cassius[/name]. The pronunciation is cash-us, but you don’t need to call him [name]Cash[/name], which has a very different feeling.
I personally would put [name]Louis[/name] in second place, but I think [name]Ezekiel[/name] may sound better with your last name and with your daughter’s name.
[name]Harvey[/name] to me is last.
[name]Love[/name] your girls’ names too, particularly [name]India[/name] and [name]Cosima[/name] – both gorgeous and perfect with [name]Seraphina[/name].
[name]Seraphina[/name] [name]Audrey[/name] is such a classy, beautiful name, and the other girl names you have picked out are the same. I think [name]Harvey[/name] captures this feeling, but I’m not getting that with [name]Louis[/name] or [name]Cassius[/name]. I’m one of those people who don’t mind alliterative names, but it seems to bother you.
Names that have the same feel as [name]Harvey[/name]:
[name]Oscar[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name] (love the nn [name]Theo[/name])
[name]Griffin[/name]
[name]Jasper[/name]
As far as [name]Ezekiel[/name], I agree that it goes nicely with DD. [name]One[/name] biblical name does not a biblical rut make, so I see no reason to think you need to continue a theme with future children. I know you said you’re not particularly crazy about the full name, but love the nn [name]Zeke[/name]. Have you considered using [name]Zaccheus[/name] nn [name]Zeke[/name]? It’s still a biblical name, but perhaps this full version is more appealing to you?
[name]Seraphina[/name] [name]Audrey[/name] is gorgeous! With her name I like [name]Louis[/name] the best. [name]Do[/name] you say it the English or French way? I think [name]Seraphina[/name] and [name]Louis[/name] would be so striking together. [name]Ezekiel[/name] nn [name]Zeke[/name] is my second favorite.
I think [name]Ezekiel[/name] and [name]Cassius[/name] compliment each other nicely for a sibset, actually. And you would not be locked into a Biblical theme, maybe a “multi-syllable and quirky” theme but that’s not that restrictive.
I like [name]Harvey[/name] in itself but it doesn’t go well with your last name, either 2-2 rhythm OR HH could work, but not both.
[name]Hadriel[/name] or [name]Haniel[/name] would be interesting, but perhaps taking it in a too-[name]Ezekiel[/name] direction?
I like [name]Ezekiel[/name] and I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Cassius[/name].
With [name]Seraphina[/name] [name]Audrey[/name] (gorgeous!), I like [name]Cassius[/name] the best. I prn. it [name]Cash[/name]-us and have never heard it the other way. And I see no reason why you’d have to call him [name]Cash[/name] – he doesn’t have to have any nickname at all, but you could also just end up nicknaming him something completely different from his name – you never know. I also like [name]Zeke[/name] and [name]Ezekiel[/name], but if you like [name]Zeke[/name] and not [name]Ezekiel[/name], I feel like I’ve seen threads on other names out there that could get you [name]Zeke[/name] as a nn … I just can’t remember what they are right now … maybe other berries will be able to help with that?
I’d use [name]Harvey[/name]. Alliteration can be fun and it’s a name that you love. It’s also underused. We considered it, but our last name is 2 syllables and has the “ar” sound and ends in a “y” too - so it sounded too matchy. [name]One[/name] of our sons does have a 2-2-2 name and I know that’s a rhythm you’re supposed to avoid, but I actually like it with his name.
I pronounced [name]Cassius[/name] as [name]Cass[/name]-ee-us. So I wouldn’t pick that one for the pronunciation confusion.
I also think [name]Zeke[/name] alone would be a valid option.
I think [name]Seraphina[/name] and [name]Cassius[/name] is adorable together! I also pronounce it cash-us. From your girl names, I like [name]Bellamy[/name] and [name]India[/name].
I would have said [name]Louis[/name]…until I read your explanation of [name]Harvey[/name]. I see no problem with the the syllables + alliteration in this combo. You love the name, go with your gut. Your husbands choice was equally wonderful, but I agree that [name]Ezekiel[/name] could be hard to compliment.
I save my “pushing the norm” name for the last baby. Go out with a bang! Ha!
Thank you so much for all the feedback! Certainly a lot to consider. I just read all the responses to my husband…he especially liked the suggestion of [name]Zaccheus[/name]. Ill be sure to keep you all posted! Right now, im thinking [name]Ezekiel[/name] or [name]Cassius[/name]. I still like [name]Louis[/name] but perhaps it would be best served as a middle name. [name]Ezekiel[/name] [name]Louis[/name]? We’ll see. Gosh, I hadnt even thought about middle names yet…
I think all of them are quite good. I wouldn’t worry about alliteration with [name]Harvey[/name], unless your last name also happened to end in “y”
[name]Louis[/name] is a really nice underused classic.
[name]Cassius[/name], despite its [name]Roman[/name] origins, is probably best known in the US as the birth name of [name]Mohammed[/name] [name]Ali[/name]. I think the [name]Cass[/name]-ee-us pronunciation is most frequently encountered in [name]Britain[/name] or Australia.
[name]Ezekiel[/name] is fine, but if you really don’t like it, I would be hesitant to use it just for the nickname. My friends all call me by my nickname, but the name on my birth certificate is on all of my id, so that is the name I am known by for all official dealings. Also, a lot of my friends were known by nicknames at home, but at school, when faced with 6 teachers a day, many of my friends ended up being known by their official name.
I absolutely adore [name]Harvey[/name]. My grandpa is the only Harvey I know and he’s the sweetest, nicest, most loving person ever. I hope saying it’s my grandfather’s name doesn’t discourage you from liking it (I know some people don’t like that connotation), but to me, it’s a name that you would allow your son to stand out while still being classic and wonderful.
I’d use [name]Cassius[/name] of the ones you mentioned. Other sib names for [name]Seraphina[/name] could be [name]Cosimo[/name], [name]Demetrius[/name], [name]Leandro[/name], [name]Giovanni[/name] or [name]Giorgio[/name].
