HELP- He is SO Picky!

My fiance can be so picky when it comes to names. He likes ‘normal’ names but if theyre too common then he says they need to be unique. If they are too unque he tags them as either ‘geeky’ or ‘weird’. He likes [name]Dominick[/name] and [name]Kade[/name] for boys and for girls he likes names like [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Cora[/name], and [name]Talia[/name], just to give you an idea of his style.

I feel like I have suggested EVERYTHING to him! Names earn extra brownie points if they sound Polish/Russian/Czech etc. or if it has a really cool meaning behind it. Something layed back but still strong sounding would be great. We have a pretty good list of girls names, so more boys names would be great.

PLEASE help me out!!! Thanks!!

Here’s a few names from the Polish side of my family tree:
[name]Michal[/name] (mee-call, with the Yiddish-style gutteral “ch”)
[name]Micha[/name] (mee-sha)
[name]Moshe[/name] (mo-shee)
[name]Piotr[/name] (Pie-ter “[name]Peter[/name]”)

Thanks for all of the wonderful suggestions! [name]Sebastian[/name] is actually my fiance’s name, but if it wasn’t we definitley would have used it. We have discussed [name]Nikolai[/name] before, but they already have one in his family. There is a [name]Jakob[/name] and a [name]Tomas[/name] already too

[name]How[/name] do you pronounce [name]Alexei[/name]? We both like [name]Leon[/name] as well.Other than that, I think the rest may be a bit too ‘out there’ for his taste.

Thank you and keep suggestions coming!

I’ve heard [name]Vera[/name] used for Russian children. Have you asked him about that one, because it seems to be up his aisle.

Nameberry won’t let me edit my post, but I just wanted to add [name]Nina[/name] and [name]Irina[/name] to my list of suggestions. Sorry I’m not much help in the way of boy names!

Good news… he LOVED [name]Marek[/name]! Makes me very happy… it is so hard to find names he loves that much! We’re both completely sold on it! More suggestions would be wonderful… we are on a roll today! Also suggested [name]Koda[/name] which he loved, and he sort of likes [name]Oneil[/name] and Mckoy. Yay!

I would pronounce [name]Alexei[/name] as al-ix-AY or al-eex-AY, as in The Russians Are Coming. (which is a fantastic hidden gem of a movie, by the way)
The polish/russian names I like are [name]Olesia[/name] and [name]Duscha[/name] (DYOO-sha), but those are probably too out there.

[name]One[/name] of my friends in high school was named [name]Alexei[/name]. He pronounced it “[name]Al[/name]-ex-AY”, so that’s how I’ve always said it as well.
