[name]Hi[/name] ladies,
I need some major help. We are expecting a baby girl very soon and my hubby and I don’t agree at all on names. We have a little boy already named [name]William[/name] who was named after a family member. I am really scared we will not have this decided in time for her [name]September[/name] arrival!
I have my heart set on using [name]Ashley[/name] as a middle name, as that is my husband’s name (we live in the south) and I think it will be darling for her to be named after her daddy.
Here is my list:
[name]Eva[/name] [name]Ashley[/name] - this is my first choice. I love the name [name]Eva[/name] and thinks it is a great match with the mn
[name]Ella[/name] [name]Ashley[/name] - I don’t love how popular [name]Ella[/name] is, however it is a family name on my side and since our son has a family name I think it would be cool to do it for both of them. Plus I think it is a pretty, soft, and feminine name
I think that both of these names go well with [name]William[/name]
His list:
[name]Abigail[/name] [name]Ashley[/name] - I like the name [name]Abby[/name] but my best friend has already used it
[name]Kate[/name] [name]Ashley[/name] - Since our son is [name]William[/name] I don’t want “[name]William[/name] and [name]Kate[/name]” which makes me think of the [name]Prince[/name] and [name]Princess[/name]
[name]Brynn[/name] [name]Ashley[/name] - This name just doesn’t do much for me
We both like [name]Lucy[/name], but have two good friends who have already used it. Additionally we like [name]Molly[/name]/[name]Mollie[/name] but I don’t love how it sounds with the mn.
I love the sound of [name]Eva[/name] [name]Ashley[/name]! Not keen on your husband’s choices with the middle name [name]Ashley[/name], though they are nice names.
If your husband is keen to have a real choice in the name and he wouldn’t just go along with your choice of [name]Eva[/name] or [name]Ella[/name] with middle name [name]Ashley[/name], then you will have to compromise. This would mean one of you gets to pick the first and the other picks the middle. If you feel passionate about [name]Eva[/name]/[name]Ella[/name], then perhaps he could have one of his picks in the middle?
some nice combos are: [name]Eva[/name] [name]Kate[/name]/[name]Ella[/name] [name]Kate[/name] or [name]Eva[/name] [name]Abigail[/name] is lovely too!
I know its hard to give up a name you love, but you have to both be happy.x
[name]Kate[/name] [name]Ashley[/name] is my favourite, but you’re right, since your son is already named [name]William[/name] it wouldn’t be a great idea to have a [name]Kate[/name]. [name]Eva[/name] is my second choice- it’s very simple and elegant and also sounds great with [name]Ashley[/name].
Since you like ella and nn abby, how about the suggestion of [name]Gabrielle[/name] nn [name]Gabby[/name] or [name]Elle[/name]/ella? Since you like [name]Eva[/name], how about [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Ashley[/name]? That way the a at the end of eva and the beginning of ashley don’t run into each other.
[name]Eva[/name] [name]Ashley[/name] is probably my favorite.
Seems like you have very valid reasons for ruling out all of his top names, so if he’s not feeling yours either…here are some ideas:
[name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Ashley[/name] (maybe a little of your [name]Eva[/name] and a little of his [name]Brynn[/name]? You could still call her [name]Evie[/name] or something?)
[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Ashley[/name] (variation on [name]Ella[/name]?)
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Ashley[/name] (ditto)
[name]Lucia[/name] [name]Ashley[/name] (different enough from [name]Lucy[/name]?)
[name]Mariah[/name] [name]Ashley[/name]
[name]Lilah[/name] [name]Ashley[/name]
[name]Mara[/name] [name]Ashley[/name]
[name]How[/name] do you feel about double names? [name]Eva[/name]-[name]Kate[/name] is lovely and takes away the [name]Will[/name] & [name]Kate[/name] association (which I agree would be a little weird…)
I like [name]Eva[/name] [name]Ashley[/name], then [name]Kate[/name] [name]Ashley[/name]. Too bad about the prince and princess. I don’t think everyone will have that association, but if you can’t get past it then forget it. My favorite suggestion so far is [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Ashley[/name], with [name]Eva[/name] as a nickname. [name]Evelyn[/name] and [name]Ashley[/name] match in style (both are dignified, delicate, intelligent-sounding and a bit old-fashioned) they run together beautifully, and depending on your mood you can cute-ify [name]Evelyn[/name] with [name]Evie[/name], or simplify it with the elegant [name]Eva[/name].
[name]Ella[/name] [name]Ashley[/name] and [name]Eva[/name] [name]Ashley[/name] are my favorite (in that order), but [name]Abigail[/name] and [name]Kate[/name] are also beautiful names. I also have a soft spot for the name [name]Molly[/name]/[name]Mollie[/name]. Have you considered [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Ashley[/name], nn [name]Molly[/name]? That would get my vote if that were an option. It’s a stunning, gorgeous name and goes wonderfully with [name]William[/name].
