Help! I just can't choose!

I’m back debating this again… Apologies to those of you who are fed up of me! Which name do you prefer for [name]Sidney[/name] [name]Warren[/name] ([name]Sid[/name])'s sister: [name]Cara[/name] [name]Helen[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] or [name]Eve[/name] [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Matthews[/name]? I would be particularly interested in the reason for your choice to help us choose! Thankyou [name]Rachel[/name] x

[name]EDIT[/name]: Forgot to add that we are in the UK so say car-a (cahr-ra) not care-a! Thanks for reminding me rollo

I was drawn to [name]Cara[/name] first, so that would be my choice. I think I like the combo of [name]Sid[/name] and [name]Cara[/name] vs. [name]Sid[/name] and [name]Eve[/name]. [name]Both[/name] are lovely!

Oh where have you been? As usual my vote is for [name]Cara[/name] and if everyone pronounced it as we do then I think the poll would poll higher. I think [name]Cara[/name] [name]Mathews[/name] is a perfect combo and love the meaning too.

very best wishes and hope that you love the final name that you choose.

Wow, both names are so nice. [name]Cara[/name] [name]Helen[/name] is the winner for me. [name]Eve[/name] is lovely, but has always been a little too simple and lackluster for me…I know the appeal is the simple beauty, which I can appreciate…but it still leaves me wanting more. I think [name]Cara[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] is feminine and strong, and still has a bit more spunk than [name]Eve[/name] does. I can see [name]Cara[/name] being a girly-girl dancer, or an athletic tomboy…it is also a name that ages so well! I think it is a better match with [name]Sidney[/name]/[name]Sid[/name], too. [name]Sid[/name] and [name]Cara[/name] just seem to fit, whereas [name]Sid[/name] and [name]Eve[/name] seem a little mismatched somehow (probably because to me, [name]Eve[/name] is kind of boring, and I don’t find [name]Sidney[/name]/[name]Sid[/name] boring at all!) Of course, our name perceptions are all different…some may find [name]Eve[/name] quite spunky!

[name]Both[/name] names are pretty, but I vote for [name]Eve[/name] [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Matthews[/name]. With the differing number of syllables, I prefer the flow of the name. Also, [name]Eve[/name] is more striking to me: more unexpected with understated elegance. I have never met an [name]Eve[/name]. (The only [name]Eve[/name] I can think of offhand is actress [name]Eve[/name] Plumb.) You can’t go wrong with either name though.

Hm. I love [name]Cara[/name], but [name]Eve[/name] is more distinctive and a better fit with [name]Sidney[/name], I think. See, I could very easily picture two young sisters named “[name]Sydney[/name] and [name]Cara[/name],” whereas hearing “[name]Sidney[/name] and [name]Eve[/name]” makes me more likely to think of a boy and a girl. [name]Sid[/name] and [name]Evie[/name] are cute vintage nicknames! So, I suppose my vote goes to [name]Eve[/name] [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Matthews[/name].

[name]Lemon[/name]

[name]Eve[/name] [name]Lucinda[/name] gets my vote.
Can I suggest [name]Eva[/name]? [name]Eva[/name] [name]Lucille[/name] or [name]Eva[/name] [name]Lucy[/name] would be cute too.
good luck!

[name]Eve[/name] [name]Lucinda[/name] gets my vote.
Can I suggest [name]Eva[/name]? [name]Eva[/name] [name]Lucille[/name] or [name]Eva[/name] [name]Lucy[/name] would be cute too.
good luck!

[name]Sidney[/name]/[name]Sid[/name] is great. I like [name]Cara[/name] [name]Helen[/name], but I love [name]Eve[/name] [name]Lucinda[/name]. [name]Eve[/name] has simple, classic dignity, and it’s familiar but not particularly common. It’s more substantial and distinctive than [name]Cara[/name]. The middle name of [name]Lucinda[/name] really adds some spice to the overall combination, too.

I vote [name]Eve[/name]! It is much classier than [name]Cara[/name] and sounds better with [name]Sidney[/name].

I like [name]Sidney[/name] [name]Warren[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] and [name]Eve[/name] [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Matthews[/name]. [name]Cara[/name] seems a little to “frilly” next to [name]Sidney[/name], I suppose it is the -a ending. [name]Sidney[/name] and [name]Eve[/name] look good together, and I personally like [name]Eve[/name] better.

[name]Both[/name] are very pretty, but [name]Eve[/name] [name]Lucinda[/name] has a bit more sparkle for me. nn [name]Evie[/name] is so cute, too. Good luck deciding!

I prefer [name]Eve[/name] over [name]Cara[/name], and [name]Eve[/name] [name]Lucinda[/name] is lovely.

Good luck!

I think there is a reason you keep coming back to [name]Cara[/name]. It is obviously the name for you. What about [name]Cara[/name] [name]Eve[/name] [name]Matthews[/name]?

[name]Eve[/name] [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] is my choice for [name]Sidney[/name] [name]Warren[/name]'s sister. [name]Eve[/name] is Biblical, timeless, classic and never will go out of style. I also like its meaning of “life”. To me, [name]Cara[/name] is only an Italian form of endearment “dear” or a nn so it lacks substance compared to [name]Eve[/name]. If you’re still undecided after all of the Nameberries weighing in with their opinions, why don’t you bring both choices with you to the hospital and decide when you meet your daughter for the first time! All the best!

Thankyou very much everyone! Here’s my dilemma in more detail: I love both names and would happily use either but have always had a soft spot for [name]Cara[/name]. Problem with [name]Cara[/name] is that it is a bit of a one off stylistically compared to the names I normally like and we are planning on having more children. Our favourite boys name for a second son is [name]Albert[/name]. [name]Sidney[/name], [name]Cara[/name] and [name]Albert[/name] just sounds odd too me and I have no idea what girls names I would put with [name]Sidney[/name] and [name]Cara[/name]. [name]Eve[/name] is just the right amount of simple elegance and I really love [name]Sid[/name] and [name]Evie[/name] together. [name]Sidney[/name], [name]Eve[/name] and [name]Albert[/name] sounds right to my ear and the other names I like “fit” (well to my ear anyway). What do you think - am I overthinking all this?? Thanks, [name]Rachel[/name] x

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Rachel[/name]

The easiest way to solve your dilemma is to name her [name]Caroline[/name] with the nn of [name]Cara[/name], then stylistically you will have the right mix ie [name]Sidney[/name], [name]Albert[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] and for a future sibling you could have [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name]. I think that [name]Sidney[/name] and [name]Albert[/name] sit better next to a [name]Caroline[/name] than an [name]Eve[/name] as [name]Caroline[/name] is much more British and [name]Eve[/name] more related to Europe. I think [name]Lucinda[/name] fits for the same reason as it is strongly British in style. Of course you still end up with cute nn’s eg [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Cara[/name] so at the end of the day you have ticked all the boxes. I should have said [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Lucinda[/name] nn [name]Eve[/name] to be in line with your top choices.

Does that help at all?

rollo

Thanks rollo. [name]Don[/name]'t like [name]Caroline[/name] - sorry! I suppose we could consider [name]Helen[/name] as first name again?? Oh this is hard! [name]Rachel[/name] x

Right from the start you have loved [name]Cara[/name] and it is perfect with [name]Matthews[/name], and [name]Cara[/name] and [name]Sid[/name] sound like a cute pair. I think it comes down to the name that you love the most and not worrying about the rest.
