Help, I think I'm starting to dislike our chosen name at 32 weeks!

Hey guys. I could really appreciate some name suggestions. We have a daughter named [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and it suits her perfectly. I think that’s part of the problem.

The only name that I had found and liked for this baby was [name_m]Atlas[/name_m]. It’s Greek, it’s unusual, but it’s not crazy. Hubby wasn’t over-the-moon for it like he was for [name_f]Agatha[/name_f], but he settled into it. Now, neither of us are sure it’s the right name.

Here’s the problem. [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] is unique, but it’s not crazy out there. It’s somewhat familiar, but you absolutely do not hear it on children, really. All the names we can find are either popular (not my style) or too out there for my husband’s tastes.

The only boy name we found that came close to the “vibe” seems to be [name_m]Edgar[/name_m], but I’m just not loving it exactly.

Can anyone suggest vintage style names that fit [name_f]Agatha[/name_f]'s vibe?

ETA: Middle name will be Benjamin

I think [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] seem a bit too modern and trendy compared to [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] which comes across as more vintage and classic to me. I prefer [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] with [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] but [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] is a lovely name to!

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]? Pretty similar to [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] but more in line with the style of [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] imo. Or maybe it sounds too similar to [name_f]Agatha[/name_f]?

Some ideas:
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_m]Griffith[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] ([name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this combo)
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_m]Angus[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]

[name_m]Ezra[/name_m] is my first thought. I love [name_m]Atlas[/name_m].

[name_m]Enzo[/name_m]
[name_m]Lazarus[/name_m]
[name_m]Ryker[/name_m]
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m]
[name_m]Arnold[/name_m]
[name_m]Cassius[/name_m]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_m]Atticus[/name_m]
[name_m]Anders[/name_m]

I think that modern/trendy problem is what’s throwing my husband off. I used to love [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] before we had an annoying person at work named that >.>

[name_m]Angus[/name_m] did remind me, though! I love, [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the nickname [name_u]Gus[/name_u]. Like, so much so I’m trying to find names that shorten to [name_u]Gus[/name_u] that would work. I am more of a fan of [name_m]Argus[/name_m], which hubby doesn’t like. Hubby likes [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], which I think could shorten to [name_u]Gus[/name_u], but I’m not sure that [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] has the right vibe with [name_f]Agatha[/name_f]? Thoughts?

[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] are so nice together! I really like that combo

I think [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] and [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] sound great together

Other [name_u]Gus[/name_u] names:
[name_m]Fergus[/name_m]
[name_m]Ignatius[/name_m]
[name_u]August/name_u
[name_m]Gustavo[/name_m]

Vibes similar to [name_f]Agatha[/name_f]:
[name_m]Ernest[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m]
[name_m]Cedric[/name_m]
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m]
[name_m]Albert[/name_m]
[name_m]Gilbert[/name_m]
[name_m]Norman[/name_m]
[name_m]Bernard[/name_m]
[name_m]Walter[/name_m]
[name_m]Irving[/name_m]
[name_m]Oswald[/name_m]
[name_m]Martin[/name_m]

I second the suggestions of [name_m]Angus[/name_m] and [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] but although I do think [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] work as a sibling set [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] does have a slightly different vibe. I also thought of [name_m]Gustav[/name_m] as another ‘[name_u]Gus[/name_u]’ name that might work. My other thoughts are based on your description of [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] (somewhat familiar but you don’t hear it on children often)

[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] & [name_m]Victor[/name_m]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] & [name_m]Leonard[/name_m]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] & [name_u]Maurice[/name_u]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] & [name_m]Walter[/name_m]

I second the suggestions of [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] or [name_u]August[/name_u]!

[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_m]Leonard[/name_m]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_m]Bertram[/name_m]

[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] (maybe “[name_m]Ned[/name_m]”)?

I love [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] but find the strong “ag” sound in both names perhaps a tad too similar. [name_u]August[/name_u]/[name_m]Augustus[/name_m]/[name_m]Augusten[/name_m] would be fabulous with [name_f]Agatha[/name_f], though. [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] also works really well.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Hector[/name_m], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m]/[name_m]Oswald[/name_m], [name_m]Ivor[/name_m], [name_m]Zigmund[/name_m] ([name_m]Ziggy[/name_m]!) or [name_m]Rufus[/name_m]?

I second the suggestions of [name_m]Alfred[/name_m], [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], [name_m]Norman[/name_m], [name_u]August[/name_u]/[name_m]Augustus[/name_m], [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Fergus[/name_m], and [name_m]Cassius[/name_m].

I adore [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] and [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] together, though [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] and [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] as a subset reminds me a bit of [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. If I met a pair of siblings with those names, I’d assume the parents were [name_m]Roald[/name_m] Dahl fans (not that that’s bad or anything just something to think about).

Suggestions:
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_u]Lionel[/name_u]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_u]Percy[/name_u]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_m]Jeffrey[/name_m]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_m]Carl[/name_m]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_m]Casper[/name_m]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_u]Quincy[/name_u]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_m]Alistair[/name_m]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_m]Edward[/name_m]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_m]Lucius[/name_m]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_m]Octavius[/name_m]

Good luck~

I love the following suggestions:

[name_u]Percy[/name_u]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m]
[name_m]Casper[/name_m]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_u]Lionel[/name_u]

I think all of those are the right style. I am not loving any of your longer [name_u]Gus[/name_u] options, though I would love just [name_u]Gus[/name_u] on its own! I know nickname names aren’t everyone’s style, but [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_u]Gus[/name_u] seem very well-matched and natural to me.

I think [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_u]August[/name_u] ([name_u]Gus[/name_u]) work really well together!

Completely agree with whichever PP said that [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] and [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] remind them of [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. It would be okay, but I think that since (spoiler alert) it’s hinted at that [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] was the one who killed [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], it’d be a bit much for me.

That being said, I really like [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_m]Casper[/name_m], [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] for your little boy!

I hadn’t realized the connection at all with [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], but apparently hubby did! LOL. He’s a fan of Dahl and I’ve never read any of his books (oops). I actually didn’t know the [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] connection until fairly recently. Most people automatically go to [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_f]Christi[/name_f]. We didn’t name her off of either (or [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] Cromwell from Halloweentown, though that’s my favorite connection).

I really like [name_u]August[/name_u] but hubby isn’t feeling it. He also doesn’t like [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], though I do. [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] reminds him of the cartoon character and reminds me of an annoying person at work. You guys are all pretty spot on with our style, though!

[name_m]Magnus[/name_m] isn’t pronounced w/a hard g in its original Scandinavian home…it’s Mahng-nus or Mahng-noos. It might be a hard sell for that pronunciation in the English-speaking world, but it would avoid two names both having the [name_f]Ag[/name_f]-sound.

Sorry if these have been suggested already, but my first thoughts were [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] or [name_m]Alistair[/name_m].

Someone mentioned [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] and I just want to say I ABSOLUTELY [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] THAT!! [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] and you have your nickname [name_u]Gus[/name_u]. It’s perfection!!

I really like [name_m]Edgar[/name_m]! Also the suggestions of [name_m]Angus[/name_m] and [name_m]Oscar[/name_m]. [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] seems a little flashy compared with [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], which is lovely.
