[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries! I have recently learned that I am pregnant with my first child. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I are really happy
Of course, I started to think about names! We have been discussing names for a while with my partner and we were pretty set before I got pregnant. I don’t know why, but suddenly all my girl names seems uninteresting… And it makes me so sad because I used to LOVE them. No problem with the boy list so far, I hope it stays like that! Please help me like them again! Here goes the list:
Why we loved these names:
Easy to pronounce in [name_u]French[/name_u] and [name_f]English[/name_f].
Classics that ages well with the child.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] the meaning.
Like how they sound.
For [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], connection to children literature.
Alice- [name_f]Alice[/name_f] you simply can’t go wrong with. It’s timelessly elegant and easy to be cute on a young child and perfectly wearable on an adult.
[name_f]Arielle[/name_f]- has that beautiful [name_u]Ari[/name_u] and a gentle -elle ending. What more can you ask for?
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]- [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]! So much love for [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]! [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is spunky and cool-sounding while easily wearable— it has the same feel as the classic, handsome [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]. Nns [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_f]Char[/name_f], or [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] is just perfect!
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]- ahh [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]! [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is so adorable on a little girl, and the nn Daph is just perfect! But despite that, it’s easy to imagine on an adult. 10/10 name!
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f]- has that coo, spunky [name_u]Del[/name_u]- beginning! The vibe is laid-back and sleek without being strange— [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] is just lovely!
[name_f]Marianne[/name_f]- [name_f]Marianne[/name_f]! [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] is such an underrated gem. With tons of nn options and ages very well, [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] is fresh and unexpected on a child.
Charlotte is kind of a perfect name for the reasons you’ve mentioned and because it’s feminine without feeling frilly or fussy. It has nice nickname options too!
Alice ~ this is such a sweet spunky classic with great associations absolutely love the [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and Wonderland association if I was naming my daughter [name_f]Alice[/name_f] her room would definitely have that theme! Anyways [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is great timeless.
Arielle ~ a delicate choice with a fabulous meaning ‘lion of G-d’ I think [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] is a nice name not my favourite on your list but definitely pretty with lots of appeal.
Charlotte ~ a lovely classic completely timeless very elegant and graceful. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] comes with two adorable nicknames [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] & [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] that suit a range of personalities and has cool historical/literacy references. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is a winner.
Daphne ~ a vintage gem that feels very vogue great mythological references and the meaning of the name provides a cool nature connection. [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] has a lot of curb appeal despite personally not being a favourite from your list.
Delphine ~ absolutely adore [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]! Such a beautiful [name_u]French[/name_u] classic. She had two fabulous nature associations with the flower & dolphins a theme that of course I would incorporate into her nursery!! [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] is just so chic and I love the nickname [name_f]Delphi[/name_f] complete winner.
Marianne ~ again I absolutely adore [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] and I think she’s completely underrated. [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] is beautiful she sounds refreshing effortlessly elegant and timeless. I think [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] is beautiful and I like the idea of [name_f]Annie[/name_f] as a nickname. Gorgeous!
You’ve got such a great list such a great starting point!!
My favorite of your list is [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]. It’s a name on our own list, too. I think it’s so beautiful, easy to pronounce but not super well-known (at least I’ve never met anyone with the name).
I also really like [name_f]Arielle[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_f]Marianne[/name_f].
I’m really sorry, but I’m very tired of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. I know this probably isn’t what you’re looking for, but may be a bit of an explanation on why some old favorites feel a little lackluster now. I’ve never liked [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. The sound doesn’t appeal to me and I’ve had (as a teacher) and heard way too many little and big Charlottes getting teased because of their name. All that aside, it’s everywhere right now, across countries and cultures, just like [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. I just think that they will be known as the Jessicas and Emilys of this generation, and its my personal preference, but I don’t want my child to have to be one in millions.
If you like flower names and [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]May[/name_f] I suggest the name [name_f]Allium[/name_f]? It is a very unique, similar to [name_u]Allison[/name_u], and has the nick name [name_f]Ally[/name_f].
Alice - Beautiful, sophisticated classic. I love the [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland association, maybe rewatch the film to see if you still find it uninteresting and have fallen out of love with it
Arielle - pretty name with a lovely meaning, though people might mispronounce it [name_u]Ariel[/name_u].
Charlotte - I have never been a fan of the full name [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] but it’s classic and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] are both lovely nicknames
Daphne - it used to just solely make me think of Scooby Doo (though not a bad association). However, since Bridgerton I have a new appreciation for the name. [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is classic and elegant whilst still cute on a child.
Delphine - is lovely and I love the Dolphin association. [name_f]Delphie[/name_f] is an adorable nickname.
Marianne - is beautiful and underused. [name_f]Mari[/name_f] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f] are both cute nicknames.
Overall, you can’t go wrong with any of the names on your list!
[name_f]Ariella[/name_f] is also very pretty if you don’t want [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] to be confused with [name_u]Ariel[/name_u]. It also is a bit like [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f].
I’m sorry you’re not feeling in love with your names. Something I like to do when this happens to me is make little mood boards of the names. It helps me to fall in love with them all over again! I had some free time so I made some up for you. They might not be exactly how you interpret the names, but hopefully it brings a little freshness/excitement to them.
Thank you so much for the mood boards, I love them! They did reminded me of what I liked about each name. I’m starting to like [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] again
